DJJ led the NBA in guarding the opposing teams best player . Marshall is not even close to that. If Lebron convinces Klay Thomson to sign with the Lakers over the Mavs then Nico has misplayed on DJJ .

I dont think Nico misplayed on DJJ. You really cant sign a player who changed agents. There is a 15 day period for that. So I think instead of waiting around for 2 weeks, the right way is just to move forward with our plans.

There is an off chance DJJ still gets signed using the BAE. LA needs every penny right now so they are not signing DJJ outright for their MLE. If DJJ signs for like 6 to 8M in LA, with their California taxes, that's still lile 4-6M intact in Texas. So if the money is the same, maybe he'll take that.

Depends on the motivation of GSW to help out the Lakers. Because outright, the Lakers have no money to sign Klay. It has to be a S&T for them and Golden State has to be willing to help LA out. Similar to the Kyrie situation coming out of BKN, Joe Tsai said **** LA and sent Kyrie to Dallas. The hope is the same can be had here with Klay.

I haven’t watched Naji Marshall play much. I did check his stats and saw that he shoots well from three and weighs more than DJJ which may come in handy. Same wingspan. DJJ I’m sure is more explosive.

Don’t think we did bad at all replacing him. Just need to wait for the Klay Thompson sweepstakes which I hope we really have a chance. Our history chasing free agents is no bueno.

I didn’t want Klay but now I want Klay so we don’t go after Tobias Harris lol

Assuming contract is structured equally, $9M goes to Marshall. There is $3.8M left from the MLE to sign DSJ or Dinwiddie. If Marshall's contract is backloaded, then that 3.8M figure goes up.

The good thing with DJJ's situation is no other team could sign him for 2 weeks. That means he's still essentially there by mid July. Can Dallas still re-sign him to the maximum allowable amount (and go over the cap) for 1 year so he can get a bigger amount next season? Because that scenario would slap.

The POA defense we’re getting from Grimes and Marshall is more than we got from DJJ. Not to mention both of them are better shooters which is what we really need.

Marshall never even played POA defense on the Pelicans and Grimes played limited minutes in having a poor yr. DJJ had a much better year than both these guys.

I watched a few Pels games live last year and saw Naji upclose. VERY tough player. His 3 point shot is getting better and hopefuly continues that trend. I think he's a good pickup but only if we get one more piece. I'm not so sure he's a starting level player but I think he's a very good role player.

Didnt watch much nola last year. But if he cant start and werent able to grab a starting spot in nola. Sounds worrying.

The thing is that marshall, and grimes, is benchplayers. If they gonna replace djj, well, now they will guard the best player on the other team and be asked to keep up the offensive production vs starters. I would not be surprised if they drop atleast 5% in their 3pt shooting.

Still dont get what klutch lured djj with to make such a stupid decision

A lot of news coming out regarding DJJ now, but the truth is ALL TEAMS are only allowed to negotiate with him after 15 days. That means he'll still be there by mid July. By then the free agent market has dried up and he will still be negotiating on an amount I think Dallas can offer. Most MLE money will be out in 2 weeks time anyway. Nico playing chess here.

Agreed on Marhsall and Grimes being benchplayers. Now we are waiting on word on our starting small forward, Klay Thompson.

How are they able to close the DJJ deal when Dallas is given a 15 day moratorium due to agent change. BS!

I wonder how he knows? Since his agent cant talk to clippers. And how are their capsituation? Feels like instead of switching agent to make him more money it could cost him 10-15m/year if he have to settle for a bae in 2 weeks
