History of the 13th pick in the NBA Draft over the past 20 years.

Only 1 out of 20 ever made the All-Star Team.
Only 5 out of 20 had a career average of more than 27 minutes per game
2012 - Kendall Marshall
2011 - Merkieff Morris
2010 - Ed Davis
2009 - Tyler Hansbrough
2008 - Brandon Rush
2007 - Julian Wright
2006 - Thabo Sefolosha
2005 - Sean May
2003 - Marcus Banks
2002 - Marcus Haislip
2001 - Richard Jefferson
2000 - Courtney Alexander
1999 - Corey Maggette
1998 - Keon Clark
1997 - Derek Anderson
1996 - Kobe Bryant
1995 - Corliss Williamson
1994 - Jalen Rose
1993 - Terry Dehere
1992 - Bryant Stith

I guess what I'm saying is that Mavs fans shouldn't expect a lot of help from the team's first lottery pick in years. Statistically, the player taken with the 13th pick will most likely spend his career as a bench player averaging 22 minutes per game.

If we get lucky and Shabazz drops to 13th, he will be our Kobe Bryant.

Wow, Jalen Rose never made an all-star team?

I would have guessed he made it in at least once or twice. Hey, if we can get a Jalen Rose-like point forward in the draft I'd be thrilled.

There are a lot of good players on that list. Chances are slim you will draft the next superstar, but good bench players on cheap contracts are definitely nice to have.

Looking back, instead of the UN draft of 85( 2 Germans and 1 Canadian) MAVS should have gone totally Cajun, with Malone, Dumars, and Hot Rod Wiliams.

MCW could fall to us with Schroeder rising in the ranks. I'd certainly welcome that pick as he could probably play SG as well allowing us to use a 2 PG front court to improve ball handling and passing.
