There are some contradictory reports. Isn't it a one-year deal or a two-year deal? He seems to be better fit than Powell alongside Dirk. He can actually block some shots due to his length (long arms 7'3") with good timing. Like Powell, he's limited offensively. He lacks the agility and jumping ability to make an impact like Tyson Chandler. But beware that Mejri looks similar during his rookie preseason, he's now very athletic. Hopefully, the Mavs can train him up to standard to 32 yo Mejri.

Withey should be the perfect 3rd option center for us this season. He's a legit center and could be needed if either Noel or Mejri go down for any length of time and could possibly allow Mejri to become somewhat expendable at the TDL if a decent deal comes along.

The guy averaged almost 3 blocks per game at Kansas in under 20mpg PT.

Withey should 100% be the backup over Mejri. Mejri is not a rotation guy but rather useful for foul trouble or if the team needs an energetic lift.
