I like Favors as a player, but I don't think he is what the Mavs should be aiming for in trades. Utah will no doubt want a good pick(s) for him, and that is the last thing Dallas should be parting with right now.

Can’t imagine we have much they would want for him. He’s been great since Gobert went down and is still relatively young

Favors is UFA after this season. We can just go out and sign him straight up if we really want him. Him at PF, Barnes slides back to SF.

I'm not the biggest fan of him, but what do you guys think of a Noel for Alex Len swap? Two disgruntled young big men who were high lottery picks. Neither have quite worked out and didn't get the extension they were hoping for, so now they're on their qualifying offer. Len is now behind both Chandler and Monroe in the pecking order, despite putting up numbers from the bench. This trade would at least give both teams half a season to view them up close.

I would be fine with this swap even tho I'm lukewarm on Len. I would probably rather have a good second round pick from a bad team like Phx, Chi, Sac etc for Noel but it's starting to feel like even that would be asking too much considering he can't crack the rotation.

I guess what I'm saying is that Noel's trade value is so low (and I don't see the Mavericks rebuilding it) that they might as well take a flier on a flawed young player on an expiring contract. I doubt Len sticks long term but it's better than keeping Noel.

More flawed young players on expiring contracts...

Trading Noel for Mario Hezonja might be something...

If you want a truly meta and bizarro trade for Noel go back to Philly and trade him for Okafor. I mean I hate it, and I doubt it works, but I ask myself where Okafor could fit in and it's possible he could be Dirk's backup. He would take Powell's minutes. You basically try Jah in a role that focus's on his one and only strength which would be running some offense thru him in the second unit. And then you're just going to have to deal with the bad defense and blown rotations.

I want to be clear that I don't like either of these but I'm not at all optimistic on Noel's trade possibilities... I would still take the second round pick over either of the two scenarios above.

Anyone else have the feeling Noel is on the shelf because he has already been dealt but just waiting for Dec 15?

I did hear that rumor. That there is already a deal in place and that the Mavs agreed to severely limit his minutes so that he doesn’t get injured before Dec 15.

Hey guys, Bucks fan here--

Is Motley available? We desperately need rebounding and I loved him leading up to the draft, think he could do well getting NBA minutes with us. Just trying to gauge his value, as he seems to be tearing it up in the G League.

Thanks.

That would be great. Makes sense, but I don’t see the Mavs rushing into a deal... I think he is likely here until Feb

Good question, he’s on a 2-way contract but we haven’t really seen him play this year. I honestly have no idea how they feel about Motley.

Easily yes to me as a Mavs fan. At least, Len shows up at times. He's more traditional big but he's limited offensively. Even so, he's usable. He's still a bit foul prone. But I think the Mavs will take a chance in him easily.

I personally wouldn’t.

I think he is worth a lottery protected first

Yeah I would want s late 1st. I doubt you get anything better than something projected in the 23+ range but he could be a difference maker off the bench. Plays both guard spots, can shoot/drive and plays defense.

Hopefully a salary dump plus first round pick for Noel, McBob, Curry and Finney Smith. I’d like to see some dead weight cleaned up.

Being on a two-way deal I have a feeling the Mavs plan to bring Motley up the 2nd part of the season after they move some other players before TDL. Noel is most likely gone by the first of the year and it wouldn't surprise me if the Mavs try to get something for Mejri who might be a nice option for you guys.

Not sure how much of Mejri you have seen but he'd be a nice pickup for a PO contender because he can be a game changer in the paint....a poor man's Gobert.

I think the Mavs would but not in the 55-60 pick range.
What 2nd round picks do the Celts have?

Mejri goes 100% every second he’s on the floor. He’s extremely active. He’s the exact type of player that every playoff team needs coming off their bench. Even if the Mavs get very little for him I’d like to see him go to a contender.
