We've got 2018 Blazers second round pick. Also, we've got our own pick. So we could end up with 2 good defender at 1-3 among the list. Those guys are mostly good shooter as well except the ridiculous shot-blocking PG.

It all depends on the lottery. In no way would I be interested in trading a top 4 pick, but if it fell to 5 or below then I think they would have to listen. But yeah, Ayton/Doncic/Bagley/Porter are all too enticing to give up if we have ge opportunity to get any of them

I’d like to say I wouldn’t trade the pick however when you look at underwhelming young players like 2015 draft Jahlil Okafor , Cauley-Stein etc a proven guy doesn’t necessarily sound all that bad.

At the end of the day, it just comes down to wanting a 19 year old that we can develop over an older player

Exactly. You may make mistakes, like Philly did draft Jahlil Okafor. But, Philly, for instance, also has the best young core in the NBA bc they drafted a bunch of 19-yr olds. It’s about being able to take enough swings. And getting many of those swings right.

Yeah, swing for the high upside.

I’m really thinking the Mavs will end up with Bagley with the 3rd or 4th pick. With the first 2nd round pick what would you think about Hamidou Diallo from Kentucky?

If he somehow drops that far I would love it. He could’ve been a lottery pick last year had he declared early but he chose to go to school instead. Haven’t seen much of him this year, but he looks like he has a lot of raw talent but definitely needs some coaching up. If we do get Doncic I would pass, but any other prospect with our 1st rounder would leave it open enough for me to want Diallo at 34 definitely

Very iffy, from what I heard he's a spectacular athlete who decided to play basketball, but is not very good. His game is not refined at all. Now if he was there with our late 2nd, sure, why not? But for the good 2nd, I like Chandler Hutchinson or Shake Milton

Hamidou Diallo should really go back to school for another year. It'd improve his value next year and it would do wonders for his game/future. As of right now, he seems undecided, but a decision will be announced within the next couple of weeks if he decides to enter the draft or not.
He will possibly be an early second round draft pick so opting to go back to school is a serious option for him.

The Denver trade was a great deal for us. McBuckets and a second rounder for an expiring. I wish it would have gotten Denver into the playoffs. I really like Harris.

How comes Bagley improving from 6-9 to 6-11; from short wingspan to 7'l' wingspan in a year? And he also grows from non-shooter to hitting 40% from the arc. That's beyond absurd. Defensively, he's still weak. But I'd lane towards Bagley than Doncic. My question is: do he have problem to put on muscles? If so, can he play PG like Simmons?

I think you are confusing him with someone else, he has been listed as 6-11 for quite a while and does not have PG skills at all

I'm not crazy about Diallo because he probably isn't a good fit and would struggle to make the team.

I still like Yurtseven in the 2nd round if he declares because he seems to be a poor man's Markkanen. Sweet looking stroke similar to Markkanen's and someone Rick would probably play.

Doncic yesterday. He doesn’t look that slow for someone 6’8”, 230. ;)

What about Gary Trent Jr or Mo Wagner?

I wonder if we could trade up in second round with Portland's pick (53th) along with GSW 2019 second with cash. I think we can get a pretty servible defender at 2-3 with the Mavs' second round pick. I hope to get a backup PG with quick feet given Yogi's situation. I think they could end up with good undrafted rookies. The draft class of the second round is quite deep when it comes to energy guys and defenders.

If we don't pick Jevon Carter and he becomes a 6+ year career guy,I'll be upset.

I can't recall any 6'8" (and over) guys with great handles and playmaking skills to be busts in the NBA.
I hear/read many comparisons to a taller Nash or Marivich but I think a fair and safe comparison would be Penny Hardaway.

If we take Jackson or Bagley over Doncic we'll regret it.

What about Gary Trent Jr or Mo Wagner?

I'd be ecstatic if Trent falls to our 2nd pick but don't see that happening.
Wagner would be a nice pick too. Nice 3pt shooter and seems to be a decent rebounder. Not sure how his defense is though.
