I think it would be between jackson & Bamba. In that case, I'd go Bamba, while they both fill a huge need, Dallas desperately needs rebounding help, and Bamba is far better there. Plus I think he may be a better lob threat as well.

Bamba. He would help our defense a lot.

Jackson is the boring safe pick because I think he is good at nearly everything but not great at anything.
Personally I'd rather trade back for Knox and acquire another first round pick. Philly would be a good team to deal with imo.

REALLY hope that's not going to be the options we end up with. I'd be very happy with Bamba and have grown on Jaren quite a bit, but I hope that especially the latter gets taken at some spot ahead of us.

Who are you hoping for and how would you envision us getting them (with respect to how things play out with the other teams)?

Porter, more than likely. With Dallas rumored to be players in the center market this summer, drafting one almost seems like a plan B.

I think plan A is draft Porter, sign Cousins/Jordan.
Plan B is draft Bamba, sign Randle.
Plan C (we can’t sign any fAs) is to trade for Whiteside/Winslow and hope for the best

I think you definitely have to draft BPA and not worry about FA. We've been bit in the butt far too many times to go that route. I myself am just not sold on Porter due to his injury and he is essentially a better Barnes, with many of the same weaknesses. Don't get me wrong, I actually like Barnes more than most on here, so my thought would be you go after the Center and keep Barnes/DSJ in place. I don't know how willing the FO would be on moving Barnes, and I think Barnes/Porter would not compliment each other at all

I think the plan is to make Porter the starting PF if they draft him. He’s a pretty good rebounder and tall enough to get shots up against taller defenders.. but I’m not sure if it’s ideal. I think if the back holds up, Porter could be the best player in the draft... it’s just a big if is all. Beggers can’t be choosers though. I say offer 4/100 to Boogie and Deandre and 4/80 to Randle and whoever accepts first we move forward with

I don't see any realistic ways for us to move up, so I'd imagine that we stay at #5. I'd be thrilled if we were to pick between Bamba and Porter. I don't see any of Bagley/Ayton or your pal Doncic dropping. I have it pretyy much like this:

Tier 1: Ayton
Tier 2: Bagley, Doncic, Bamba, Porter
Tier 3: Jaren, Trae (not doable with Dennis here so we can cancel him out)

But is Porter even healthy? That's the main factor for me. Really hope we will have the right type of information regarding his health status. If he's 100% fine then he is a legitimate candidate for the top 3 but that's a huge questionmark.

ha you know I love me some Luka

But yes I'm with you, while my preference pre-lottery was Bagley (as I knew we'd never get #1 to get Ayton), I'd be fine with Bamba. I think working with Dirk/Holger, he can refine his offensive game enough to be a very good big.

I worry too much about Porter's back, so if there is even the slightest concern and Bamba is there, I'd pass. Now if it were between Porter and JJJ, that makes it harder.

Let's hope the Mavs FO reads this and follows suit once Ayton/Bagley are off the board, Bamba is the next best option.

I'd go Bamba at this point.

Nope. They’re done tanking. Odds are Matthews gets dealt in February for a piece to help get us into the postseason as well

Porter if healthy is who I would take at 5 if not then Bamba or drop down to get Mikal and another first rounder.

I am not in favor of risking the 5th pick on Bamba because he is so lightweight it would be easy to push him around.

I think a center like either McCoy or Azabuike would have a lot to offer and grabbing one or both in the 2nd could be possible.

Rumor is that the Mavs want a big in free agency while they want to draft a swingman. However, at the current position, the best available is either Tae Young or Mikal Bridge. I don't think they are of as much value as a big availble at 5. I just think what if we make a trade with LAL for Ingram straight up? LAL needs not bother about Ingram's contract status. Then, they draft Bamba at 5 to play alongside Kuzma, Lebron, PG13 and Ball. Does it sounds perfect for them? At least Ingram is better than all swingmans available at 5. (I don't think Doncic will drop that much. And sorry, Porter is more PF than swingman.)

Boxing out has become rare these days in the league. Bama will be fine and after a season once team trainers begin to develop his body.

Keep in mind his length is rare gift that the league has never seen before. It's hard for me to believe that he will drop past 5th.
