WTF really Mark? If I see this as a trade deal for something else then I may be happy but I definitely will be pissed for a Trae deal. Doncic would be smoking good if the rumor is true.

The Mavs drafted Trae Young afterall? What happened? Have the Mavs finished the draft night? I think the Mavs has to make the cap rooms opened. But if teams are looking to unload contract with a 1st, the Mavs should be interested depending on who's left on board.

Love it. I had the lottery screwed us and we had to give up a future 1st (hoping this is lottery protected? Anyone know?), but this guy is going to be good. More than ANYTHING, he is a winner. Stats are so overrated. This guy knows how to get it done on a basketball court. LOVE THE MOVE.
Now, I'm scared we are going to go hard after Cousins though

They have a deal with Atlanta who they drafted Young for at 5. They will get Doncic, Atl will get Young and a future protected first.

I liked the deal better when we were just using money to move up, but I really like the Doncic pick.
Rumor is that the pick is lightly protected i.e. top 3-5.

So the Mavs has not taken on Bazemore. And there's indeed some protections to the pick? I think it's about right. I expect the Mavs to make a run at Porzingis next offseason as well. It seems to me that DMC is Dallas bound.

This is a dream come true. with DSJ, Barnes and whoever we get in free agency, we will be a damn good team and possibly be back in the playoffs. Now for the second round lets add McCoy

They definitely knew Trae was going to get drafted by Orlando if they did not do this deal.

Congrats guys! I'm gonna be a bit of a Mavs fan this year, Carlisle will be a great fit with him.

This is likely a Rick pick. We know how much he loves his PGs.
Likely means Yogi isn't coming back.
Maybe this means we'll leverage Barea in a trade? Or, willing to.
I also don't love this pick, though I think Brunson will be a solid NBA player. I just question how much impact he makes in the next couple of years with the talent in front of him at guard now.
I would have loved Khyri Thomas or Melvin Frazier here.

Do you really not know who Jalen Brunson is? Player of the year, national champion Jalen Brunson not ring a bell? Geez.
Incredible basketball IQ. Very strong for his size. A true floor general. Hit big shots and is a heart and soul type leader. Might not be fast enough? Shoot well enough? Questions that remain. I like the pick, but I wonder who’s going to be playing down low. Barnes playing the 4? I really hope we don’t throw a max at Randle. Cousins, I understand. Not Randle.

I am sure the Mavs wants Howard on one-year deal before maxing out Randle. I think they'd offer Smith for Porzingis. So they determine to get in the pick to Atlanta in 2019 from my understanding.
