Wes needs to go asap

Post#1 » by Pinkyring » Sun Sep 30, 2018 2:54 am

This is unbelievable, completely took the ball out dsj and luka hand most of the 1st tonight, i thought he was trying to do too much last year because of our lack of playmaking but he's still at it and rick lets it happen.

I'll wait to see how we go the rest of the pre-season then into the season before I get mad about who handled the ball too much in the first pre-season game against a chinese team. He handled it way too much, but outside of that he does look way better than before, and should absolutely be a nice role player if he's given and sticks to that role.

True. His only value will come by February. That, or we simply let his contract expire and sign someone like Khris Middleton or Tobias Harris.

Right. I’d move him for the right price absolutely, but the other alternative is that coming off the books allows us to go after Kris Middleton, who is 27 years old and a perfect fit next to some of these young guys.

Matthews is the single worst thing that happened to the Dallas Maverick franchise. That includes Toni Braxton, Rondo trade, Odom trade, breaking up the 2011 team, etc.

No way is he a worse move than the rondo trade or not running the 2011 team back.

Rondo ruined a team that at least had the chance of the deep playoff run in them, and cuban was trying to be too smart for his own good not running back 2011. Yeah they were old, but letting chandler go specifically was so dumb. He hadn't even turned 30 yet.

The worst thing was Roy Tarpley. So much talent wasted. Honestly, the league overacted to his problems. He got a DWI and ended out getting banned from the league.

Wes has no handles. He shouldn’t ever have the ball in his hand unless it is to catch and shoot. He needs to mimick Deshawn Stevenson more and quit trying to be Kobe Bryant.

He needs to understand that Carlisle inserted him into the lineup for defense and catch-and-shoot ability, not to be facilitator of offense. DSJ and Doncic should have the ball.

With that said, nobody should blame him for trying, it's the coach that needs to clarify things.

Seeing Wes airball that three last night.. he needs to stick a fork in it. He's done.

At this point, Ryan Broekhoff might even shoot and play better overall than him. Wes trying to do too much in his contract year. SMH

I guess it all boils down to Wes having low basketball IQ. He just doesn’t seem to understand the game and what his role should be for the team to be successful.
Even worse is coach Carlisle gives Wes a free pass to make bonehead plays that would put other players in the doghouse.

I think Wes Matthews for Andrew Wiggins is about to go down. Besides this type of deal, I really don't see a lot of suitors for Matthews. Clearly, the Mavs are much better off rebuilding through trade from Season opener. Don't bounce on the FA luck. The Mavs has none.

True

Even worse, they are running plays for him. And out of timeouts. It’s literally drawn up to post him up and have him go to work.

Wes looked bad and DAJ didn’t look much better.

I just had a crazy idea... what if nobody had told him that Mavs are not tanking anymore?

I'm not sure that Wes is the biggest problem, you can eventually put him in the corner to shoot some 3s and be useful in D. But how will you take the ball of DSJ's hands? He's not playmaker and he's not off ball player and I doubt he will ever be and he's useless in D. too.
