Mavs FO said that they don't want to rebuild through draft anymore, so i guess it's fair to say that they see no reason to get more draft picks. And having nr2 spot in this years draft would be quite OK in my opinion.

Well, imo there isn't such a big drop off 2-7 Mavs could get a guy like Culver, or worse case D. Hunter. I am not high on Barrett, and would be looking towards using the appeal of the big numbers he is putting up.

It's not so much about building through draft, as much as it is about having a safety net for next season, in case of injuries or team missing out on FA targets and underperforming - especially since Draft seems considerably deeper, especially on guard spots, and having a late lotto pick could net you a good player

I would trade it to Phoenix for their nr. 5(Deandre Hunter) and Mikal Bridges :D

That would be nice, but I am afraid too rich maybe

Drop below Memphis and we hit about 40% chance of keeping our pick.

Absolutely not. Mavs should definitely be a playoff team next year with Porzingis, Doncic, and Barrett in that hypothetical scenario. If it was 2 for 6 and Collins then maybe

As long as Conley, Bradley , and JV keep playing there's a good chance. If JJJ and Anderson come back even better.

I get temptation for Barrett, given his numbers, but I personally don't like his game, and don't think he'd fit well with Luka, being rather bad defensively, ball dominant and susceptible shooter on offense.

For me, if it as between Barrett and for ex. Culver + having 2020 pick back, I think I'd opt for the second one.

Barrett or Morant would be great to have at 2. Hypothetically if we picked above the Knicks, I would trade back for those future picks we owe them, but not for just the one we owe Atlanta. As far as fit next to Doncic, when your team is picking 2nd overall, you just have to take best asset available... worry about fit later

If you believe in their potential, by all means. I just don't think either of them is going to justify hefty projections on them, and would try to take advantage of that by taking back pick and getting a prospect that is no worse than those two (obviously, I am pretty high on Culver). Could be dead wrong, though.

I would absolutely trade back, though less interest in getting our picks back. That's nice, but if we have a core of Luka, KP, a top 5 pick and then use the cap space wisely, then those picks shouldn't be great.

I like Culver alot too. I'd love to trade back to #4-#5 and get him if we were to luck into #2/#3. RJ Barrett and Ja Morant are the best value there and neither are the right fits with Luka and KP. I also dont like Morant very much.

If we land number 4 or 5, I am very high on Cam Reddish as a prospect. He fits right in at SG or SF. That's a 6'8 player with point guard skills and shoots well beyond the arc. Showed that he can play off ball in a team with Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett.

And if by some off chance, that Mark Cuban can somehow convince KD to be his own man and sign here to lead Luka and KP, then you have a scary ass team for the next decade.

C- Porzingis / Powell
PF- Durant / Kleber
SF- DFS / Jackson / Broekhoff
SG- Reddish / THJ / Lee
PG- Doncic / Brunson / Harris

*DFS guards the opposing PG. Luka shifts to SF on defense.

No interest in any prospect outside Zion and Barrett. Mavs should trade the 3rd or 4th pick if they get either one. This draft class is pretty sorry

Yeah if we somehow keep our pick, yet can't get Zion or Barrett, I'd say look to see if you can trade the pick and accumulate some assets since we don't have much should be priority. Otherwise, DeAndre Hunter may be a good option to pair with Luka/KP

I wouldn't trade out unless it really made an immediate impact, if a team wanted to jump up I'd make them take thj

I am intrigued with Reddish's measurement and skillsets. But I am a little worried about the intangibles. I think Reddish is similar to Hezonja somehow. In a weak draft, Reddish is still pretty good piece moving forward. But thinking Cam as highly as Leonard may disappoint ourselves. Defense involves a mentality to not give in anything. It also takes extraordinary effort to work to improve. If the Mavs does pick Reddish, I hope the Mavs could somehow take on salary and draft Thybulle. Then, sign Hezonja as another fall-back option. I think the Mavs need to give DFS credits for vast improvement. But thinking DFS as highly as a starter elite stopper may disappoint us as well. Kosta, in all indications, is not as matured as random rotation player. The physical tools are still intriguing. I think having a speedy PG is of higher priority. Morant is just fine with the potential as knockdown defender at 1. As of now, if the Mavs does gets a high pick, I'd rather have Morant with unloaded contracts. Then, sign Hezonja and draft Thybulle (trade up? take on contract?).

C - Porzingis / Kleber (5M) / Any defensive big that can bang beefy big
PF - Randle (20M) / Nowitzki (MIN) / Kosta or cap burden from trade
SF - Doncic / Hezonja (3M) / Broekhoff or 2nd round pick if the Mavs keeps it from any trade
SG - Thybulle / Hardaway / Jackson
PG - Morant / Brunson / Barea (2M)

(Powell opts out. DFS out of price tag)

I am also fine trading Zion for Gordon, Bamba and Orlando first.

Tacko Fall, 7-6 C, could go undrafted. I am somewhat interested in bringing in a effortless Powell replacement. Unlike Bradley, Tacko is strong and athletic. 30-40% from FT is deadly. But still, why not?

I really like Cam Johnson. Despite the number of high lottery picks on UNCs roster he clearly was their best player in my opinion.
The only thing holding him back is his age but on the other hand he seems to be more NBA ready because of it. The Mavs had some success with older prospects in the last few years. DFS and Powell for example were 23 as well when they first played for the Mavs.
He fits the Mavs need for 3-point shooting wings and is a solid defender. He combines the best of DFS and Justin Jackson.

Averaging 17/6/2 on 51/46/82 shooting splits this year he is at the top of this years class when it comes to volume and efficiency from 3. 46% on nearly 6 attempts.

If he is still available in the early second round I don´t see a better option but this years mock drafts are all over the place. Some have him going in the early 20s. Some have him falling to 40.
NBA players are like turtles...they can only get up with the help of teammates.
