Optimism faded a bit after the Hawks game, especially with Carlisle not showing any kind of willingness to take minutes away from Matthews & barea after their horrific showings and hero ball. Not even factoring in Toronto is a legit team

Fortunately for ALL of the rookies this season, there are no more "matchups" in this league. Just looking at someone the wrong way is a foul so defensive deficiencies that 98% of the rookies experience are not that obvious.

I was thinking the same at first, but after additional consideration I think the defensive deficiencies might become even more apparent. Before this year, if you had average lateral movement you could still compensate for it by grabbing/holding your opponent, but now defenses will be even more heavily based on lateral movement / quickness / wingspan. It's a very polarizing rule change, you will either be able to defend well or you will do poorly. There will be much fewer players in between.

Kawhi is one of the best perimeter defensive players in a long time. And if he sets his mind on stopping Luka, he will do so. Luka is not experienced enough to face that kind of a defender. We have to be real here. But if he does well against him i'll be the first one to say i was wrong :P
On the other hand, if Barnes will really play, then maybe Kawhi will have to cover him, so Luka will have more free space to operate.

Danny Green has looked phenomenal this year too.

I kinda hope Carlisle starts Brunson

not sure Barea's style of play (hunting for assists) will work well with the starting group. Although he's been doing a great job thus far this season

Brunson is trying hard to prove himself on scoring, but forgetting why Mavs really drafted him. Unless RC gave him some weird instructions how to play on offense.

It's strange they haven't tried to attack JV yet.

Oh boy this is another frustrating game to watch. And Barnes going for 40 shots tonight after not playing for 2 months? No proper ball movement and again bad defense.

they keep having Wes and Brunson run the PnRs, which makes zero sense when you have Luka out there.
