Noel is a scrub. We need a PF next to KP, I like Randle. He's from Dallas and I think he'll agree to 20 mil, which is right for a 3rd option. Ideally, Middleton, but he's not leaving Bucks.

If you play him at 4, then you want to pair him with defensively minded 7footer who can block shots and rebound. KP + Robin Lopez was indeed nice.
Robin Lopez is a solid defender but his rebounding is horrendous.

No, he is not. Just like his brother Brook and Steven Adams, he is one of the best box out guys in the league. His teams always rebound better when he is on the floor.

Exactly, he boxes out the opposing team's best rebounder, so someone else can rebound and rarely goes to grab the uncontested rebounds which are going to the teammate.

Porzingis, Body Development

Post#304 » by moistnessfiscal » Tue Mar 5, 2019 8:46 pm

Any insiders receive reports on his upper core development, overall weight gain, or related news regarding this topic? This section of his development is integral to his overall progression, with emphasis put on his low post game and defensive ability at the centre position; he already has the mobility and rim-protecting acumen but if he can't consistently guard a back-down, it's difficult for me to see him reach new heights.

This is the guy KP and his brother have decided to go with.

https://sports.vice.com/en_ca/article/zmqdme/meet-carlon-colker-the-personal-health-guru-behind-kristaps-porzingis

Colker was in an ephedra scandal that followed the death of Orioles pitcher Steve Bechler in 2003. As a physician practicing internal medicine, Colker advocated the use of ephedra – a weight-loss and energy-boosting supplement – while claiming it was safe and effective. He was named as a defendant in three separate lawsuits, accused of falsifying data about the dangerous side effects of the supplement.

That article is over a year old. Is that still ongoing? It feels... Wrong.

Risky as hell, but what the hell do I know, I thought the Embiid contract was crazy because of his injury history, and it's looking like a great decision so far.

This was obviously the plan the minute after the trade was announced.

Tall guys with leg/knee/foot issues are of course concerning but I think this was a risk the front office had to take.
I don't know if the Mavs front office knew of the discord between KP and the Knicks but I guess they may have suspected something since it was reported they kept pressing for KP even after being rebuffed multiple times.

After the whole Dwight/Deron saga post-2011 I guess the front office has just decided this was the sure way of nabbing a potential all-star. And who can forget the ridiculous DeAndre Jordan & Clippers clowning Cuban on Twitter offseason.
Seems for Dallas (and other non-LA, non-NY franchises) the only sure way of acquiring all-star level talent is through the draft and trade.

That's an offer for more than 2 All-stars and winners for 3 point contest and skills challenge the front office has to take before talking anything with Powell. From the moment the Mavs trade for Zinger, the team expect to offer the max of the max deal to Zinger before the free agent has to entertain offer from other team. Then, have the core ready to lure key FA to the Mavs. Leonard is the one who puts a championship on table to any team signing Kawhi. Hopefully, the lobbying job is well done by the young fellas.

Yes, this was expected as mentioned. Unicorns are expensive!

Well worth it if he can come back to what he was. Can’t wait to see him in action

Expensive? Yes. Risky? Yes. They traded two firsts plus Smith Jr for him. Cuban is putting all his chips in for the next half decade. This trade will define the Mavericks one way or the other.

To live up to the contract I'm sure the expectations are for him to be vastly better than when he was NY. At least we know we have once piece along with Luka so the future is bright regardless. Now, we just need more pieces, and weapons for Coach to be able to utilize!

Maybe I am overly optimistic, but I don't see KP as a risk at this point. I don't think Mavericks are that stupid to commit max money if they are seeing something wrong with his recover. The only risk I may see, is that KP may come back and only ever be 90% the player he used to be... which is still a max player imo.

ive voiced my concern regarding KP and his unwillingness to follow experts sometimes but I doubt Cuban and the FO would let that happen here. I think they gave him some kind of ultimatum and kp finally decided to wise up and follow.
after all the mavs have Casey Smith who's regarded as one of the best if not the best trainers in the league. kp should only listen to him.
