Diallo is selected 33 overall 3 years' ago. Cheick is very raw coming into this league. Looking at the draft video, I discover something amazing. Diallo has fixed most weaknesses in 2-3 years.
- FT% 58% to 74%
- shot selection problems in college to 62% on 2P%
- bit on pump fakes a lot to great timing in shot blocking (most shot blocked are barely leaving the hands right now)
- among elite as rebounder (13.3 REB per 36 mins. Remember DJ only average 15 REB per 36 mins)
- Do not know where to go in college - right now, understand role, get a lot of easy buckets and get a lot of stops defensively.
- passing out of post (less turnover passing out of post)

To conclude, Diallo is very coachable with strong work ethics in all indications. And skill-wise, Diallo is also tremendous fit. And the Mavs need not break the bank at all. This is an immediate replacement to Powell. Elite rim runner with ideal measurement. That's a great starting point for a young player. At 22, Diallo is a tremendously fit as a starter or backup. Provided that Diallo is limited in experience in College. Cheick will continue to improve in a lot of areas such as block per TO, steal per TO, block per PF, steal per PF, 2P%, FT% to name a few. If FT% could reach 74% in 2-3 years, then developing mid-range should be non-issue. Not necessary with Zinger around anyway. I do hope Diallo can jump higher as well. So we can protect Zinger's ankle from tip.

Zinger's frontcourt mate should be able to:
- rebound (as Zinger is not a strong rebounder)
- block shots (as Zinger might be involved in pick-n-roll a lot)
- move well (to have a rim protector despite pick-n-roll or fast break situation)
- elite rim runner for best spacing to shoot for Zinger
- able to bang inside (to let Zinger recovers fully from injury)
- do not need the ball to be effective (3-4 OFF boards; get most points from transition)

Diallo is exactly that.
