Cap Space For Summer 2020

Post#1 » by HairyGOATee » Mon Jun 24, 2019 4:53 pm

Do you all want the team to let the contracts of Lee and Powell to expire next year, and perhaps use the stretch clause on THJ that summer so that they have cap space to pursue free agents that year?

Here's a list of who will be available.
https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/2020/

There will always be some decent players out there, and 2020 is no exception. Lowry, Hayward, Drummond, Siakam, Anthony Davis, Otto Porter, Tristan Thompson, DeMar, Batum, Whiteside, Ibaka, Marc Gasol, Draymond, Jeff Teague, Clarkson, VanVleet, Crowder, Harrell, Buddy Hield, Kris Dunn, etc..

Maybe KD and Millsap too.

Won't Milsap be a FA this year? I can't imagine Denver will pay him 30 mil on a team option

Not much to see in 2020. Demar Derozan and Rudy Gobert would probably lead that class. At least from a Dallas perspective. Anthony Davis isnt coming here and I dont think Cuban will deal with a Klutch client as well.

If anything, this is the summer to make moves. It kick starts your 5 yesr campaign, you keep Kristaps and Luka happy by building a team around them (or at least try to).

Yeah. that 30M is better spent on a prime free agent too. But unless they get a backdoor guarantee or a promise, I dont see the top ones lining up to play in Denver Colorado as well.

Maybe they give that PF spot to a newly recovered Michael Porter Jr? Maybe? That's a reach even. But maybe they try it out.

Yeah, that's why I said maybe. He COULD sign a 1+1 deal this summer, but let's see about that.

Yeah, and with KP looking to earn more, they probably won't have that much cap space in 2020 anyway. Like, the moves I mentioned would help them clear up some cap space, but with everyone set to earn more in 2020, who knows how much space they would have under the cap next summer.

This option is looking a little more realistic now, but man, I hope they get someone like Horford and/or PBev

I dare not to take this route if Leonard signs with LAL But still, tanking for 2020 top pick is a right decision with new AD and several elite PGs on top of draft board. But could the Mavs tank well this time with Luka and Zinger in mix? It takes very cautious effort.

At the right price, Demar Derozan would make a nice 3rd star after Luka and Porzingis.

Not saying the Spurs would let him walk like that though.
