Bojan Bogdanović: So Many Wings!

Post#1 » by HairyGOATee » Mon Jun 24, 2019 6:55 pm

Bojan Bogdanović is 30 and a FA this summer, and might be the most underrated player in the NBA. After Dipo went down for the year, he led the Pacers to the playoffs, although they were ultimately swept by the Celtics.

Still, he's an accomplished player that is coming off of a career year. Here's a short list of what he's done during his basketball career.
NBA All-Rookie Second Team (2015)
Turkish League champion (2014)
Turkish Supercup winner (2014)
Turkish Cup winner (2013)
Turkish League All-Star (2013)
Croatian League champion (2010)
Croatian League All-Star (2010)

Not bad. Then throw in the fact that he shot 40+% from 3 the past two seasons in Indiana and was above average in his NBA stops before that and you might have something there. He could be a poor man's JJ Redick in a way.

He's not much of a rebounder or playmaker, and his defensive and hustle stats aren't that good either, but as a 3 point specialist, I think he could help the team, and he is a wing that would give the team more depth there.

What do you all think?

Also, enjoy some Bojan moments from Game Of Zones

I think he's just too expensive and it's a luxury the Mavs cannot afford. It seems like he has improved significantly on defense or his reputation certainly got a boost off his performance vs Lebron a couple of seasons back, but overall it'd be a disaster to have Bogdanovic/Luka having to defend in space. We need athleticism.

Let's get the opinion of a member of the Bogdanovic hate club.

Yeah, that LeBron game made him seem better, so maybe he's the type of guy that plays D when the moment is right. I don't catch him regularly, but his advanced defensive stats and ranks on his own team weren't too pretty.

I am more interested in the Bogdanovic from Sacremento. At least, it's a position the Mavs lack (2) and the age range (24) that helps the rebuilding process.

I love Bogdanovic. The nets have just moved on from him and have a plethora of guys who shoot/play the wing and bigger needs at F. Bogs is a guy who would eat our max salary while not providing much we dont have.

But if you need a secondary scorer and a fearless guy and werent chasing durant id say gof or it

He's a good player but I don't think he'd be available for reasonable contract.

Doncic and Porzingis are already exceptionally skillful players with great shooting touch and good BBIQ.
Athleticism, durability, defense are main short comes. Mavs should address those for future post-season runs.

Bogdanovic isnt a bad defender but he's not Siakam/Aminu or such to bother opponent wing players on D. He's not a dog like Beverley. Not a bully like J.Randle. I'd like those type of players first.

For other Bogdanovic from Kings: Stay away.
Short SG that cannot defend. We already have THjr. Taller more athletic with low BBIQ. Neither can start for a playoff team imo.

Bogdan and THJ are both listed at the same height and weight apparently. Same year of birth too.

My bad but I'm going to blame D'Fox for this. He looks bigger than most pg's and I guess I got the impression.
Also European guards other than Doncic struggled to survive in this league. And it gets harder when they're smaller.

I didn't watch many Kings game to make a good assesment of Bogdanovic. I know him from Euroleague but the game especially defense doesn't translate easily.
I had this impression of him being small to defend wing players and slow to defend guards.
Vlade Divac wouldn't let him go unless he thinks the same. I wouldnt mind slightly overpaying T.Young as I see the fit but for Bogdanovic I'm not sure.
Having THjr and 2 european star players with great shooting makes me second guess Bogdanovic.
KP is great offensive threat. If needed Doncic can single handidly create all the offense for a quarter. Carlisle knew how to use bench units and running sets effectively to get points. Focus on defensive players.
Remember the last title: S.Marion was plus defender, Chandler was DPOY candidate at Mavs. J.Kidd always an underrated defender played great D.

KP is really a Nowitzki-lite or Nowitzki 2.0. Doncic is a beast a **** winner. Just fill the gap in their game.
