Earlier in the year they were a drastic negative. Huge, positive turnaround as they are figuring things out alongside each other.

As expected. Only casuals like Pinkyring expected instant gratification from a big man coming off a knee surgery

Some people saw it as not quite coming off. He sat out and extra half a season. I thought it would take until the All Star break for him to click with Luka on offense. KP played with the worst ball handlers / point guards in the league during his time with the Knicks:

Jarrett Jacks Corpse
Jose Calderons Dried Bones
Chasin' Randle
Brandon Jennings with 1 Achilles Tendon
Derrick Rose Trying to Get Paid
Mudiay
Trey Burke
Rookie Frank

I'm not making this up. Dude made the All-Star team playing with this trash.

I thought he'd be good defensively because he's just such an insane shot affector and he'd also have an actual NBA coach for the first time in his life. By second year I'd expect him to be elite defensively if healthy, he was leading the NBA in FG% against when he tore his ACL.

Dang, the Knicks really messed it up. So, not only did they give away the talent/potential, but they seem to have fumbled handling a guy who really looks like he has his head in the right place, just plays hard, with a fearless mindset and buys into a team concept. Point being: you see no ego. If things are going well or bad, his body language is good. He isn't blaming others or being a diva. Interesting. It got to the point where I don't even care that much about the shooting lines, I care about the quality of the shots (see a clip below where he passes up what would be a terrible attempt) and his effort. His effort has always been there. He is filtering out some of the bad shots attempts he had earlier.

THJ combining with KP. Timmy credited with 4 assists to KP.

This play is pretty great to me... he used to attempt some horrible looking shots (still has some, but rare now)

He still has some glaring holes. But it's all good. I'll let others point it out.

And by the way, without Luka he is more active/willing to be involved in action, so while the Mavs definitely need to incorporate him more, it's probably mostly just about him being more assertive/bringing in the same intensity/mindset when he plays next to the Luka guy as opposed to thinking "ZOMG they aren't a good fit". This dude just attempted 13 3s. He can jack them up next Luka. No problem.

I agre with whoever said its more about him setting screens now when powell is gone. Also, he kinda calls the plays when luka isnt there, or maybe not call the plays but he is the star then and the other sets him up.

This games production was great but shots wont fall like that every game

In five February games, Porzingis averaged 27.2 points, 10.2 boards, 2.0 dimes, 1.2 steals, 1.4 blocks and 3.6 treys on a 50/41/90 shooting line.

This Kings game was probably his best offensive game. Certainly my favorite. Everything looked crisp and in control. He didn't look phased. Just towered over the defender and put up 'good looking shots'. Looked sustainable.

Sucks that there is a break.

KP is putting up stats that could compete for Player of the Month

27.2 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 50% FG%, 41% Three point %, 90% FT%

Yes! Say, with the All-Star break those averages could decrease when he returns. I'm just thankful he's playing well and on the floor.

The Mavs big 3, Luka, KP & Maxi are all smart players and always say the right things. KP was out there post game answering questions in English and then in Spanish and always sounding like he is a 15 year vet and unfazed - you will not know if he had a good or bad game, always looks the same..

Knicks fans have to be banging their heads into the wall right now. We get KP who is awesome. THJ - Slightly overpaid but has found his role.

They get - Cap space which turned into Julius Randle. DSJ who has regressed. Two first round picks that look like they will be late in the first round.

Their "admin mod" in their forums was **** on KP EVERY FREAKING GAME... dude literally has an obsession with KP. It's like that GF you break up with and you just can't let it go until you get a restraining order. I am really happy that KP is showing what he is capable of to some of the idiots. NYK fans and their organization are seriously one of the worst in any sports. I am glad KP escaped that mental institution.

Knicks fans are comical. They have a high opinion of self worth. They believe that the Knicks is the top destination for every free agent. They also tend to extremely overvalue their players in trades. They thought they should be able to get a first for DSJ. They thought they would get multiple firsts for Melo’s overpaid corpse a couple years ago. If I lived in New York, I would be a Nets fan.

There was an article on ESPN+ about how KP opens up Mavs historical offense. Does anyone have ESPN+ and could tell the main points of it? My husband thought that I have it, but I do not want to buy it just for one article.

A local newspaper from Liepaja reported that they had direct private flight from Dallas on Sunday with two passengers and one of them assumed to be Kristaps Porzingis. If it is true, then he will need to spend 14 days in quarantine at home. The jet supposedly was Cuban's.
It probably means that NBA will not start for another month, because it is most likely that on return KP will also need to spend 14 days in isolation, even if situation in Latvia is much better.
We currently have 836 total cases from 51 thous tests (1.6% of tested positive), 45 people hospitalized, 13 dead and 4 in critical condition. We have tested 27 thous/1 mil population (US - 17.6 thous/1M). Deaths in Latvia 7/mil pop (US 177/mil). In Liepaja as far as I can see there was total of 21 case.

It's better to keep him as 5 or PF? He performed very well as center during Powell's absense. Don't we need anymore a guy like Turner beside Porzingis? In that case should we focus on a PF or is Kleber ready to be a starter and find a backup 4?
Sorry for my english dudes xD

I think it's better to keep him at the five, Kleber is a decent starting level glue guy, or use DFS at the pf, if the opposition goes small. I think the mavs are also set at center backup with Powell and Bobi. Even if WCS leaves, although his contract is absolutely amazing price/performance wise. The mavs are also set at rotational pg/sg position. What I think they need right now is another quality big wing 3&D guy and they're basically an outside contender. If said 3&D guy is a borderline all-star and a bonafide 3rd star on the team, the mavs are an actual contender.

From what I remember, I think Porzingis really excelled at the 5, despite Dallas initially wanting him slotted at PF. Could a guy like Myles Turner come in and be effective at the 4? I’m not sure. I think there are better options available like Galinari, Bjelica, Gordon, or Nance

KP is playing "5"/rim protector on defence regardless.

So it's all about spacing and with KP you have Brook Lopez on steroids. You don't want anyone clogging the lane.

And besides that , they are few centers left posting up , less every year.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
