OMG this is great if he can play some D and he is healthy.

$8M a year is a great bargain.

Maybe he starts over Brunson as Luka's secondary ball handler? I dont know.

REMAINING CAP SPACE

LAC - $55M
LAL - $32M
DAL - $30M minus Curry contract more than likely
NYK - $30M
ATL - $14M
SAC - $13M

Everyone else is under $10M.

Kawhi is keeping the LA boys busy as they hold that money up for him.

Dallas has $22M left.

If Danny Green takes $15M, we'd have $7M left for a center/power forward.

One of the Lakers or the Clippers get screwed this summer. Or both if Kawhi stays in Toronto.

With Curry you can play him as a PG since our kind of PG is just a shooter and someone to pass the ball to Doncic who we run all the offense through anyway. Given that situation then Curry actually is a fit for sure and he can work at getting open for Doncic to get him some easy shots. 45% from 3 makes him a pretty good pick up if you ask me. Now a defensive SF/SG and C and we will be set. Roby needs to get developed ASAP. Green is still in play and Cousins, Boban, WCS, Zubac and McGee are all still there to be chosen. I think we can grab Cousins if we want to and Boban as a back up would make sense as well. I would grab both since Cousins could be injured again.

Curry can recruit as well so he may be more valuable as a recruiter than as a player. I expect he could swing Cousins to rejoin him here.

Dallas still has 23.3M in usable space, plus the Room Exception after that at 4.8M, so it still makes sense for them to go the cap space route. Plus, using the NTMLE on Curry would hard-cap them, which would make things difficult in re-signing KP/DFS/Kleber and using that TPE.

Good signing. Gives the team some shooting at least.

There is not much being said anywhere about Cousins making Dallas a strong possibility in my opinion.

To be fair, Cousins will go to any place willing to offer him a job. The guy is currently unemployed

Of course, not saying we bring him in.

I think Curry definitely fills 1/2 of the big fish free agency for the Mavs. If they can get a Gallinari or Cousins type signing now, that would totally be a big fish summer success for the Mavs imo.

Happy for Seth but didn’t the Mavs let him walk last summer for nothing?

What’s changed? He had a very good season but maybe Barea’s injury left the Mavs backcourt a little thin?

Otherwise, maybe they could have extended him last season for less?

Great question: the main reason they did not offer Seth anything last year was because they topped out by signing DeAndre Jordan. They could not complete a sign and trade with the Clippers and had to take that entire contract out of the salary cap.

Really good signing. He and Powell will be a really great duo off the bench. Hopefully the Mavs can swing a deal for a big like Capela or Adams to salvage what has been an otherwise awful free agency

Just got home and saw 2 great news from Mavs. Seth and Maxi signed for reasonable amounts. This is fantastic, finally some good action from the front office.

Seth was always on my wish list, but i had no clue he will be this cheap. Thought he would also want to go to the Lakers.

Great signing! Now add Green and we'll finally have some proper shooting to surround our Luka & KP pick and roll with.

This was a really good signing because Seth is exactly the type of player we need playing with Luka.
I see him as a starter and if we can sign Green we'll have one hell of a lethal backcourt in terms of long-range shooting.
That is exactly what Luka needs to space the floor and operate at his best.

Not crazy about Cousins at all, I'd rather sign Diallo because he is more of a workhorse type center that would complement KP well.

Curry/Brunson/Barea
Green/Broek/Lee
Luka/DFS/Jackson
KP/Maxi/Kostas
Powell/Diallo/Mejri
