What's The Best Starting Lineup For This Team?

Here are two options that I see.

Option 1:
C: Powell
PF: KP
SF: DFS
SG: Luka
PG: Delon

Option 2:
C: Powell
PF: KP
SF: THJ
SG: Luka
PG: Delon

Out of those two, I'd go with Option 1 and let THJ be the 6th man.

Here's another one they might experiment with

C: Powell
PF: KP
SF: Luka
SG: Curry
PG: Delon

Then bring THJ off the bench, or if you need defense, then DFS. That's a decent lineup if you want another 3 point shooter out there. THJ can shoot the 3, sure, but he's super inconsistent and is a chucker.

But again, I think DFS is ideal as a starter, with THJ off the bench. That's not saying DFS will get 30 min a game, as I only want him to see like 20. THJ would instead be closer to 30 min a game, just that he'd come off the bench, much like JET did during his prime with the Mavs.

Liking that one with Curry but I see it as a smart thing to start Boban at the 5 to give us an advantage by making the other teams bigs try to stop him and make them get into foul trouble early as well as make them work hard so that when Powell and Kleber do play they are able to enjoy an advantage from being fresher and having all of their fouls to give.

Hmm, that's very interesting. Are there stats on which player draws the most fouls? If so, then how does Boban fair there?

Wright-Curry-Doncic-Powell-KP

with THJ, Brunson, DFS, and Boban all coming off the bench is a pretty decent 9

Boban-Zinger-Luka-Delon-Seth

Inside out
passing game
pick n roll
Good spacing
multiple playmakers
good size

If the group can cut down TO and play good defense, then it's a favorable mismatch for the Mavs easily.
The backcourt should learnt to take charges.

Porzingis
Kleber
Luka
Curry
Wright

Spacing, three guys who can initiate and plenty of scoring options.

Great rim protection with Kleber able to chase stretch 4s to the perimeter. Wright can guard the best wing.

This is the lineup I hope we go with. It’s obviously ordinary, but the pieces fit really well.

And it allows Powell and Barea stay together to beat up 2nd units. THJ and Boban unfortunately run with those two and steal half the possessions.

Depending on match ups, we'll probably see a lot of this.

C- Porzingis
PF- Powell
SF- Jackson
SG- Doncic
PG- Wright

But I wouldnt put it past Carlisle to experiment and have Luka at PF on some nights. Especially against teams with no dominant big man.

SG- Curry

Would not surprise me if the starting lineup evolves into that by mid-season.
Doncic is our best rebounder so it would make some sense.

Curry/Wright/Luka/KP/Maxi is probably our most balanced lineup and could very well be our closing lineup in many cases.

Put DFS in for Curry and that's a good close-out lineup when you're protecting the lead. If you want to regain the lead, then put Curry in for DFS, just like how you have it.

When does Barea come back though?

Best three point shooting lineup is going to have Curry KP Ryan Jackson and Boban in it. Brunson and Luka could be in it as well. Luka needs to get his % bumped up some more.

Remember that Luka takes a lot of step backs and half court shots so that is effecting his % also. His 3pt shooting is realistically a lot more 35% + than what the stats show

KP
Powell
THJ
Delon
Luka
-----------
Boban
Maxi
DFS
Curry
Brunson

Or sub Justin for THJ in the starting lineup and sub DFS for THJ off the bench. Not that high on DFS, the dude was horrible as a starter after ASB.

Reaves plays defense, which I like. If he's two years from making the team, then he's looking like a possible Delon Wright replacement if Wright decides to bolt elsewhere I guess.

I actually prefer Maxi starting over Powell because of his defense and rebounding. And Curry should start. Bringing Hardaway, DFS, and Powell off the bench is a strong second unit.

Powell rebounds at a higher rate according to the stats. Eye test confirms that for me as well.
But Kleber is the better defender of the two for sure. He shoots the 3 ball better too, but with KP out there doing that, you'd rather the team use whoever is the better rebounder and defender down low. Looks like Powell and Kleber will split minutes again. However, I also think that shows why the Mavs should look into a guy like Steven Adams. But I'm pretty sure it won't happen.
