This week, the team filled its final roster opening. Isaiah Roby, Dallas’ second-round draft pick this year, inked a four-year, $6.7 million contract, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks. Beyond the length of the deal, the amount of money he’s set to make is historic. Roby will be the highest paid second-round pick out of college in league history, making $1.5 million in his first season.

While Roby's contract might be eye-catching, it isn't wholly out of the norm. Money left over from Dallas' mid-level exception, which the team used to sign Seth Curry, is bolstering Roby's first year payout. He'll make the league minimum after that. The third and fourth years of the deal are not guaranteed.
