Would be wonderful if there was an upset, I am not expecting it, so hopefully Brunson, DFS, Curry continue with good games and KP chips in for the sake of progress

KP needs to bring his shooting tonight. Need him to pull Gobert out of the paint.

Did league pass stop working in the mavs game for someone else? Mavs almost had catched up, like 82-77 or something and it just went black. Still isnt running for me

Sorry don't know. I'm watching the game on Fox Sports Southwest, the local network for Mavericks basketball here in Dallas.

I can tell you that you didn't miss anything. The game got pretty ugly from there. Pretty deflating too because the Mavs cut it to 83-80 with an impressive 3Q run, but then it just all went to ****

Another embarrassing defensive and rebounding efforts as a team, Jazz's bench is killing us all night, especially in the 2nd quarter,

Look at what this team's recent play has done to the enthusiasm on this forum. We didn't even hit page 2 on this game thread.

No one posting. A lot of posters I haven't seen post here in weeks. This sucks. Mavs really aren't giving us any reason to tune in anymore.

I mean I aint sure it is all negative. It is just some people had really upped their expectations for the season because of a good start. Even for me who didn't place this team in a playoff preseason, I admit them dropping out now would be kind of really sad and frustrating. But I dont expect them to finish above 7th seed and expect them to fight for the playoffs in fact.

As for Utah game, I was just really disappointed with KPs performance especially on the defensive end, while I missed some of the Brunson, Curry magic.

I think WCS plays pretty well in limited minutes compared with Kleber who's not kicking alongside KP. The defensive impact is absent even if two shot-blocker is there at the same time. Jazz scores a lot in paint. So is so many similar teams do previously. Maybe a more mobile C kicks alongside KP. Gobert is handful in this game. So is Clarkson, Mudiary and Mitchell. Wright's defense is overrated. Jalen can't really defend anything. The efficiency is so much better with JJ on court. Hopefully, newcomer, MKG, could offer a little more.

Utah played 6'6 Royce O'Neale on Kleber and we couldn't even take advantage of that. Gobert doesn't even shoot threes like KP and it feels like we didn't take advantage of that either. In a lot of aspects I feel these adjustments could have been on the coach.

Problem for Mavs is that Kp's impact on winning is minimum. He should at least be very positive in D, but unfortunately he isn't. In this 7 matches without Luka Mavs were 3/4, but 2 wins came when KP was out too.

Agreed. KP and other bigs with similar play styles are tough to integrate to existing NBA systems. Anthony Davis' 4th quarter scoring is down this year despite playing with Lebron. Joel Embiid seemed to have forgotten how to play basketball despite having a passer like Simmons. Same goes with Luka and KP. The advantage for us is we got Carlisle who I trust can figure it out with time. Those two have Frank Vogel and Brett Brown respectively, and honestly I don't know if those guys can figure it out.

I didn’t watch them a lot lately. I was getting too frustrated with their dumb losses and as a big fan of Luka, I didn’t even have that, so I took a small break.

The last couple of weeks have been pretty bad.

To be honest, i was getting fed up with constant Doncic criticisms. Made no sense what some people were saying. Also some thought Mavs were better with KP running the show and stuff like that. Then the reality hits and you basically see that this team will still get as far as Luka carries them. Also Rick running weird ass lineups kills the joy of watching them sometimes...

Our pick and poll defense is so bad, that lead to many 3pts opportunities and points in the paint for UTAH, overall seems we only lose by a few point, but don’t forget UTAH is on 2nd night of back to back with last second shot win over HOU yesterday AND is in the road AND THJ’s shooting is extraordinary good based on his standards, imagine the situation become we are the one having back to back, play in UTAH homecourt, and THJ with normal efficiency, I can guarantee you, the game will definitely be a disaster for Mavs, and may be even worse than the loss to PHX we have last week

Yeah, it's frustrating because they had it going earlier in the season. I remember when the Mavs were like 4th in the West and had a tough loss vs a quality opponent, an interviewer asked Cuban something along the lines of "Do you feel you've overachieved so far this season?" and Cuban's response was "We've underachieved."

I was sitting there drinking the kool-aid because I thought Rick's weird lineups were working. At the time they were playing solid defense & the offense was purring like primed V8 engine. Running on all cylinders.

I don't know what this crap has been the past 6-8 weeks, but the Mavs need to figure it out. They definitely tried hard last night (in some areas), but they don't have the defensive mindset to be a legit contender. That solid defense from earlier in the season is gone & it needs to come back ASAP.

Losses like the one to Washington are just OMG. I don't think I'll get over that one for awhile. Stealing one from Utah last night would of helped...

I think this next month is going to be very telling. A few weeks ago, this looked like a light part of the schedule. One would think the Mavs could handle teams like Memphis or New Orleans fairly easily. Now, I'm not so sure. Those 2 games with Minnesota the last week of February look more challenging to me with D'Angelo Russell a Timberwolf now.

Originially, I was thinking this would be easy street up until the March 16th game @ LAC, but I don't know anymore. I hope Luka gets his rest, the Mavs get some practices in over the break & they come out looking better organized (especially on the defensive end). Because after March 16th it is Murder's Row on the schedule.

Would've liked to watch the game last night - but Uni has started again. Fortunately i only have lectures twice a week this semester. Some weeks tuesdays and thursdays and some weeks wednesdays and thursdays. And sometimes i just can't stay awake if the game starts late. Most of the games starts like 1:30-2:30 in the night. Likely missing the game tomorrow aswell as it starts 2:30 in the night and ends like 5:00 in the night/morning and a lecture starts at 10:00.
