Just hope DAL can stay competitive from beginning and play good defense for 48minutes

That Pelicans win was BIG! We can virtually lock up a playoff spot with a win tonight. Go a long way towards locking up a top 7 seed too.

I know that even with losses in both games we'd already be 95% favorites for a top 7 seed. I'm just saying to take it to 100% would be nice.

I still think getting to that 4th/5th seed is important. I'd much rather play HOU than anyone else in the 1st round, but more than anything I want to avoid the Clippers in the 1st round. Mavs are 7th and the Clippers are 2nd & I don't think the Clippers are going to give that spot away. They'll start playing George & Kawhi together a lot more to build their chemistry together. That'll shut out Denver or anyone else from catching them.

If the Mavs don't start winning games like this one tonight, they're not going to climb out of the 7th seed. Facing a Clippers team firing on all cylinders in the 1st round, the Mavs might get swept. At least this current incarnation of the Mavs. The team that's struggled mightily for the past 6-8 weeks.

That win on Wednesday was really encouraging tho! I'm going to be watching tonight's game with more optimism than I've had since December.

Denver or Houston is the ideal first round matchup IMO.

A win tonight would be huge, even without Jackson playing. Mavs need to start beating playoff teams

This is more important now than just locking up the playoff spot. I know it's a huge achievement that they managed to become a playoff team in just 1 and a half year BUT why not dream big. If they stay at 7th spot, they'll almost 100% play LAC. I don't think DEN can stay at the 2. So it's kinda important that they at least get by OKC and MAYBE even push for 5th spot.

1000% agree. Staying in the 7th seed is an open invitation for the Clippers to sweep us in the 1st round. We haven't looked good in either matchup vs the Clippers this year. And the Clippers haven't even hit their stride, yet.

Get to 6th, at least, and hopefully 5th. I wouldn't just like to play HOU in the first round. I'd have us as a heavy favorite. Win that 1st round series, build the confidence & then roll the dice if you play one of the LA teams in the 2nd round. Who knows.

Falling ass backwards into the 7th spot & then getting swept in the 1st round would be a real blow to the Mavs confidence for next year, I think. I really want to avoid that & winning games like tonight are super important in that effort.

Echo what others are saying, playing the Clipps in the PO is disastrous. We need to win as many games as possible to get the highest seed we can. Sitting Luka again when THJ is out for games like today si just giving it up, like we've done so many times before.

Luka has clearly been playing compromised, wonder if they sit him tonight.

According to Mike Peasley via Twitter, as of 90 minutes ago, Luka is expected to play tonight.

JJ Barea is also available.

We'll be without THJ, DFS & Brunson.

Delon Wright is going to need to do headstands to slow down Morant. Not really anybody else on this squad who can stop him. Seth, maybe? Like maybe as in slow him down (< 25 pts)???

MKG, I guess, although he hasn't seen the floor much. Is MKG quick enough to stay in front of Ja Morant (not that there are many guys in this league who are).

If Morant finds his stroke tonight, he could drop 30+ on us easy. Valanciunas has also been an absolute BEAST on the boards lately. His last 5 games: 16, 15, 20, 25, and 10 rebs. Play 25-30+ min & never picking up more than 4 fouls either.

At least JJJ & Clarke are out for tonight.

KP with the Trae Young range. Curry cooking aswell. Doncic sat down after 5½ minutes. Guess he'll get back in again soon.

Doncic way off from the FT line on both attempts in the 1st. Otherwise he's doing what he wants more or less. Memphis are only 5 down due to 8 very lucky points from Brooks.
