Isaiah Hartenstein waived by Rockets

Post#1 » by dirkules_41 » Wed Jun 24, 2020 1:13 pm

Hartenstein just got waived by the Rockets.

Is it just the German in me that thinks we should pick him up as a big man prospect?

93rd percentile as a PnR finisher
22 years old
athletic but also pretty physical
Good FT shooter for a big
Not a non-shooter in general

He's a skilled dude, was more of a PF than a C earlier in his career but he's a 5 I'd say. Had some douche-tendencies when he was younger on some german U-tournaments (alongside Mushidi) but it seems like he has matured.

I'd love to have him......but I'm german too.

Don’t really see the need. Tbh, I’d rather just give Boban more minutes than play Hartenstein.

For long-term, I say yes. WCS will likely opt out. Powell will likely take some time to recover. As a PnR roller, Hartenstein fills Powell's role effectively. In limited minutes, this kid produces good number actually. But in all indications, it takes some time for development, especially on the defensive end.

I think the Mavs needs to find replacement at PG first. IT tops the list.

I don't think so. Jokic is ruled out of the playoff already.

No, he's not. A player with COVID isn't ruled out of the season. They'll just sit out a couple of weeks to recover, and enter the bubble to resume the season.

I don't believe that's true. Maybe you saw a report that I didn't see? Regardless, I hope he's not out.

Given WCS will opts not to play in Orlando, I think we should consider to sign Isaiah, who have lots of potential and actually be an impact player.

I am all for this additino as well. Don't waste time on Cousins.. Hartenstein has comparable stats to Powell during first season with Dallas. I expect Hartenstein to be very successful with the Mavs. Brandon Wright, Dwight Powell ... all experienced great leap as a Mavs. With similar skillsets and athleticism, Isaiah may find a long-term home in Dallas.

Hartenstein has no value to Mavs. He's not playoff eligible, so no point in signing him.

If he is not eligible then he is of no value to us now. We do need a big but I see us needing a big that can shoot and or rebound he has to have one skill that is strong to justify our taking him on and maybe we add a SF or PF instead of a center. Pau Gasol is available but is he into it still? Gerald Green and Ryan Anderson ex rockets are there to sign. Green was hurt so he may not be ready yet. Anderson has size and can shoot some but he is older and slower now. Gasol would be fun to sign and use if we could talk him into putting his heart into it.
