Maxi and DFS are nice backup caliber players and serve a nice role. However, putting them up against superstars are exposing their limits so I definitely agree to use them to improve.
I don't see them as individual trade pieces to improve. They would definitely have to be packaged with other players or draft picks.
I don't think they are necessarily overvalued. DFS at 4m is a bargain for any team and that provides nice trade value for us.

Teams that have established cores that need a role player would find great value in a player like DFS and even Maxi to some degree. The problem for us is that we are still building a core but are trying to fill that void with role players like DFS and Maxi. That is where I definitely agree with you and feel they should be shopped.

Nop3 dont care about cap room the bigger salary just allows for a bigger pool of players, we'd have to add to it obviously to upgrade but yes we need to consolidate some of these role players

In your opinion, what does Maxi/DFS/#18/#31 yield us in a package deal?
Who would be a realistic target?

Not enough to land us a guy which would put us in contender status which is what id want to move all that in one trade. I think that can land us a myles turner type and i like him but his production isnt enough to warrant two solid role players on good to great value deals and two picks

I think Jrue Holiday will be on the Mavs radar but I have no idea what it would take to get him considering NO is in the same division.
He is a bit old but would be a nice fit next to Luka.

I want jrue as our primary offensive target in summer in free agency but i dont think we have the pieces

It will be difficult, if not impossible to move Maxi and DFS for a proven star caliber player to add to our SL so the Mavs might have to take a risk on moving up in the draft or taking a chance on a young prospect that might have some serious upside.
One of the reasons I keep mentioning moving up to get Vassell because he has Matrix type impact potential and would be an excellent fit with Luka. He is more of a pure shooter than Matrix and DFS but would fill a similar role. Plus he is athletic as hell and would be fun to watch playing with Luka.

If he slips past 10 I think the Mavs should put together a package including both picks and Brunson to move up to get him. Not an immediate difference maker but should pay huge dividends in a couple years.

Agreed two role players dont equal a star especially with both being in their late 20s

Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said Luka Doncic (left ankle) is likely to be a game-time call for Game 4 Sunday.

The Mavs are still waiting on the results of the MRI as there was a malfunction with the machine. Luka will not practice at all on Saturday and will simply receive treatment. If Luka is unable to play Sunday, Kristaps Porzingis will have a monster usage rate and the Mavs will need guys like Tim Hardaway Jr., Seth Curry and Trey Burke to pick up the slack.

This could be one of those games that we can steal if the Clips let their guard down. You see that a lot when a star player goes down and the opposing team becomes complacent. Example was the Bucks and Toronto games on the road when Luka was out. We had 30 point leads in the 4th in both of those games without Luka. We just have to hold the leads because Bucks cut it to 4 in the closing minute and Toronto beat us. If I'm not mistaken we beat Philly without Luka on that same road trip.

We might have that going for us if Luka is out. We looked pretty good when Luka was on the bench this entire series so I don't think it is as bad of situation as it seems.

KP can pick up the slack if Luka doesn’t play. The role players though will have to get the usual KP output.

What's funny is the Clippers and Doc have been sending their enforcers to bait our stars. Morris and Harrell have been given techs. What's weird is our stars keep biting at them and have been getting their techs too. Luka got a tech, KP got thrown out in game 1. A tech each for Harrell and Luka? Doc would gladly take that swap.
