When will Luka learn to just instinctively catch and shoot?

Yeah, I remember that one. That was really weird. It's like he lacks confidence when it comes to shooting wide-open 3s. He did miss a couple of 3s in a row, but still...

We keep saying "his 3p% is bad because he takes tough shots", but then he doesn't take the easiest 3 : wide open from the corner.

It is clear as day to me he has a hard time hitting shots he is supposed to make. Like FT, wide open shots.. But he will hit the toughest shots. It's mental. Also this clip shows me, he has low confidence on his 3pt shot and his preparation and release is too slow.

You know what I would like to see Luka add to his game? A jab step. With his handle he’d easily be able to get open if he had a proficient jab step (similar to Dirk). He’d get a lot more open 3’s and it’s a better move to get an open shot than the step back.

No one is saying he’s not great. Obviously he is. Over the last two games he’s averaging 35/12/12 which is an insane stat line. But even he will tell you that there is so much more he can improve on.

I want to see Luka to improve in every part of his game. But he's 21, need a progression like every year he will add something and improve in his weaknesses. It shouldn't be right away. That's why it's funny that his doubters think that he already peak on his ROOKIE season.

Luka's 3pt shot will return. That's a skill that almost always improves with time and age. But, most importantly, he is getting better defensively. That's actually a more important improvement at this stage.

Yes. Exactly. He know what to doo. And he always did. The results are obvious.

For example, this season weight is a result of gaining weight as season expected to start end of January or beginning February. It started in the middle of cycle of gaining mass.

After a slow start, particularly from downtown, his box score is starting to show some improvements. On the downside, his defense has worsened a bit as of late....perhaps its a stamina issue, no surprise.

33.5% 3PT% after a terrible start
79.5% FT% finally starting to be solid from the free throw line

I hope he can keep up his 3PT shooting, if so, he should finish easily at around the 35% mark.

His TS% is now 58.6%, not amazing but pretty solid considering the high volume.

You've got yourself a real gem, I've never seen payer this young being this good since LBJ, a 3rd year player being in talk for MVP having elite level statline, this is unfathomable.

It's unfortunate that Luka getting the hate for being a starter in this year's All Star game when in fact his numbers can back it up but Dallas is just not good this season. And Donnie/Cuban getting the free pass. SMH.

Luka willing to play for Slovenia in Olympic Qualifiers & Tokyo Olympic Games this summer.

I wish he won't though. He needs to rest & heal.

Luka will have to learn to trust his teammates more in year 4. He already proved he could score in the 40s if he gets 30 shot attempts. No one is contesting that now. He can do it.

The next step is involving everyone at the right time. Learning that basketball is 5 vs 5. He already has proven he can take defenders 1 on 1. Now he cant do 1 vs 5. There is a learning curve for year 4

This is where Cuban is opposed to the idea. Because if Luka gets injured, he shoulders all the risk as he is the one who is paying him the supermax. I believe Cuban also feels the same way about Dirk playing for Germany.

Luka already know very well how to play 5 vs 5, he would like shares the ball in firsts 2 quarters and take more responsabily in lasts quarters of the game but he can't with this roster...that's the problem.

That's because KP, DFS, Kleber and THJ are all essentially the same player. They all can't dribble and create their own shot. They all have to wait to be spoon fed the ball.

Ideally you just need one of DFS, Kleber or KP on the floor. You can't start all three because all three guys just stand behind the 3 point line and watch the game. Start one, bench the other two. Replace them with starters who can actually score by themselves and watch the change happen.

Luka this off season:

Get in shape
Work on his free throws
Continue improving his defense/3pt

I would probably say trust more his teammates but it will depend on the changes next season. Like bringing another guard that can shoot and create and also be dependable defensively.

Lastly and hopefully, Cuban/Donnie will find a way to built a championship team not just a good team.

I wish Luka goes to the Olympics. Such an unique experience. Slovenia has never been there either. It will be hard against Lithuania. We have nobody to guard Sabonis and Valanciunas.

I hope he gets in proper shape before the season.
