Entire schedule is really tough. Hopefully 2nd part will be much easier. And if KP misses out on most of these games...damn.

lol :D

Suns vs Dallas = L
Lakers vs Dallas = L
Clippers vs Dallas = L
Dallas vs Hornets = L
Dalla vs Miami = L
Chicago vs Dallas = W
Houston vs Dallas = W
Denver vs Dallas = L
Dallas vs Orlando = W
Dallas vs NO = L
Hornets vs Dallas = W
Bucks vs Dallas = L
Dallas vs Chicago = L
Toronto vs Dallas = L
Indiana vs Dallas = L
San Antonio vs Dallas = W
Dallas vs Houston = W
Dallas vs Denver = L
Jazz vs Dallas = L
Jazz vs Dallas = L
(totally pathetic, who wants to watch two teams playings same game twice lol)
Dallas vs Suns = L
Here is where I think Porzingis makes return (slowly
Dallas vs Suns = L
Atlanta vs Dallas = L
Dallas vs Golden State = W
Dallas vs Golden State = L
Dallas vs Timberwolves = W
Dallas vs Atlanta = W
Dallas vs NO = L
Dallas vs Portland = L
Dallas vs Detroit = W
Houston vs Dallas = W
Dallas vs Memphis = W
Dallas vs Boston = L
76s vs Dallas = L
Nets vs Dallas = L
Orlando vs Dallas = W
Dallas vs OKC = W

Maybe the last 8 games Porzingis will be "normal" on the floor.

So that is 37 games and a record of 14 vs 23
If Porzingis is ready half a month earlier maybe it goes up to 17 vs 20 and maybe if they play above my expectations also 20 vs 17 is a max I see in my eyes.

Meaning I just don't see it. If they manage to get away with anything other than 3 straight losses in the first 3 games I will be absolutely shocked.

You do know many are saying Luka is a strong candidate for MVP this season?
Even without KP we should win a lot of games considering Luka has another year under his belt and has a decent veteran supporting cast. And we have improved tremendously on defense.

Health will be the key factor for us imo, but then it will be the same for every team as well.

We'll be fine....have faith my friend :)

I do but other teams have bunch of stars not just role players also.
I also think there will be some trap games, Dallas also actually quite a lot of players that need to either figure out the system and how to play with eachother or are returning after injury

Johnson = NEW
RIchardson = NEW
Powell = returning after a serious injury
Porzingis missing so we have what

Luka + Maxi + Tim + DFS + Brunson + Burke and that is basically it. Everyone else is either new or after injury

1. Opening match you see Luka and company overcoming CP3, Ayton, Booker and company? I do not.
2. You see them win over Lakers? I do not
3. You see them winning over Clippers? I do not
4. Hornets game they should win on paper but I actually think that is a trap game: Lamelo + Hayward, Rozier and company vs Luka and company? Not as easy as it looks on paper imo.
5. You see them beating Miami? I do not

So first 5 games I ll be shocked if they get more than 1 win tops and I think I am being very objective here

For this season especially this is hard to do with C19, load management, and likely no crowds.

Also outside of the Lakers I really don't see a team that the Mavs can't beat.

All Mavs have to do is be a 10 seed and I would say it's a good chance if healthy they make the playoffs with a chance to advance if they avoid the Lakers

This is just the Mavs too. What do all the other teams in the west schedules look like?

How many stars does Atlanta have? NOP? Suns? Do they have a Star of Luka's Caliber?

Johnson = NEW
RIchardson = NEW
Powell = returning after a serious injury

CP is new and OLD. For ATL, Bogi and Gallo are new too. Zion is often injured, they lost Jrue and they added a Adams who can't space for Zion. For GSW, Klay is out and we actually beaten them when they had KD when Luka was just a rookie. And let's not forget that Luka is still improving.
Shut it down! Let's go home!!!

Most power ranking have Mavs on top few spot, 5-6. But most Mavs fans are not optimistic, right? Put it simple: everyone competes hard on D and keep making open looks. Regardless KP's playing time, the Mavs should be on playoff path. As simply as that. It's all about efforts. While there're a lot of newcomers, there's no undefined role. The most complicated role is actually on luka or maybe Burike but both are proven on playoff floor. Everyone else are either shooter or defender or both. As long as WCS shoots better than Powell, WCS takes all Powell's minutes. As long as Burke and Terry plays better 3D role, take all Brunson's minutes. The Mavs should be perfectly fine. But knowing RC, problems remain: RC doesn't trust newcomers. I suspect the Mavs suffer the most when RC is too stubborn to put Powell or Brunson on the floor despite poor efficiency and defense.

Luka's role is simple. He will have the ball in his hands at all times :) I hope they try to use him off the ball when Richardson/Burke/Brunson run point.

Let's see how "weel this holds up end of January

8/11 after 19 games
My prediction was: 6/13 (Pelican's game was posptoned. So it is actually better than I thought.

The green games I correctly guessed. The Red ones I did not.

So if I am correct we are about to see 3 more victories before things get better, so considering the COVID-19 problems things actually turned out better, but than again Porzingis also returned a bit more early than I expected, but than again he hasnt exactly been shining....and team chemistry looks down.

All and all I dont think I was far off with predictions

After 23 games

We are 9W & 14L
My prediction was:
7W & 16L

So actually Mavs are still doing better than my initial prediction. Although I have to say it does feel, like I got the general gist of it, I even correctly predicted the 6 games losing streak in this period :D

If COVID didn't decimate their team for 3 weeks, you would be wrong even more probably :P You got lucky a bit.

Could be, could be. I also expected Porzingis to be out till February so I guess that evens out a bit. But seeing how everyone is back lets see if for the rest of the way things change or stay the same.

Oh yeah, i forgot you said KP will be out for a longer time. Hmm, i don't know what to think about this team anymore, i'm really puzzled. I thought they will at least fight like dogs but they look like puppies most of the time. I see a ton of people yelling "fire Rick". I don't want to go down that road but he is not really helping at all with his decisions. And i do blame him a bit for this result as well.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
