Re: Trade Discussion 21/22
I'm racking my brains thinking of who else might be available in addition to the names y'all have already brought up.
Bobby Portis is only on $3.8m with the Bucks and has a player option. He'd be a real nice pick-up at a reasonable price to play Center and is still only 26 years old. The Bucks may want to bring Kostas in to play the same position. Addition by subtraction from the Bucks?
Apart from Ben Mclemore, the Lakers have a couple more guards who are available: Alex Caruso (UFA, and from Dallas) and THT (RFA). The Mavs could make a move for one. Then there is also Dennis Schroeder (UFA) who had a bad playoffs but was pretty good in the regular season; he has good drives to the hoop and defense but his 3 PT shooting is suspect.
If Portland keep their starters, they have a young player who looks interesting, Anfernee Simons, but he's under contract.
Possible Porzingis trades... the Hornets might make Terry Rozier (not an FA), Devonte Graham (RFA) and/or Malik Monk (RFA) available if they turn the reins over to the Ball family and bring in Lonzo. They just signed the 3rd brother. GSW might offer Wiggins, Wiseman and their pick for him. There's a report saying Toronto are open to trading Siakim, could they be interested in a swap? The Pels could want to move Adams for Porzingis but I'd prefer Brandon Ingram, he doesn't fit with Zion too IMO but is a baller and has the length to defend the KD, Kawhi types, even provide help defense on Giannis.
So many options, whatcha guys think?

I like the idea of going after BP at the right price. Thought the Mavs should have went after him last off-season.
I think you are vastly overvaluing KP at this point.
Some of those suggestions might have a chance at TDL though if KP plays at his potential and stays healthy until then.
His value has fallen to a point where we'd have to give up assets just to move him.
Ingram and Siakim would be no chance right now and I doubt GSW would even do a Wiggins/KP swap, let alone give up Wiseman and a pick as well.

You're probably right regarding Porzingis. I'm just throwing stuff out there because his value to some teams might not be solely measured by his performance last season but by how he potentially fits with their plans/needs. For example: GSW might want the trade as someone who they can add to Curry, Klay and Dray while their window is still open and who fits well with that group (in theory at least).

Jock Landale: 25 year old center, 6'11", 255 lbs. Wiki says this guy went undrafted in 2018 but since then he's gone on to become Finals MVP of the NBL (the same league that Lamelo Ball played in 2019-20). Is he maybe worth a look as the 3rd center on the team with the opportunity to move himself up the hierarchy? Seems to have a serviceable inside game and motor, and there are highlight videos that show him knocking down a few in-game threes. I think he's worth a look from the scouts.

Ben Mclemore is a knock-down 3-point shooter possibly available for the vet-min too. I think he's a better shooter than Reggie, especially in big moments, having seen both play for the Lakers. Well, Ben might be more inclined to a team closer to a ring for the vet-min... but the Mavs may be able to tempt him with something a little higher and longer term.
This popped up on my YT feed today, someone else thinks Korkmaz could be a good pick up.

Steal for the Pels, they dump bad salary for top-5 center in this league at the price of dropping 7 spots + late 1st

I love me some JV, but I dont think he's a top 5 center. Still a solid deal for both IMO

This will be probably a bigger news than Jkidd signing. Absolutely perfect coach for player development and one of the best assistant coaches in the league coming to Dallas.

Gobert
Sabonis
Capela
Turner
Ayton
That's already 7-8

I wouldn’t put Capela above Valanciunas.

Capela and Turner are better defensively, but not offensively, and I'm not sure who I'd rather have, Gobert at 40/yr or Val at 15/yr.

I would. The guy anchored that Atl defense and was in the top in rebounds and blocks. Not to mention he can switch and guard the perimeter, To me, its not even a debate

Yeah so overall, I think they are better since both sides are important, especially at the 5 more than any other position.

I'd be down to take a flyer on this guy... He looked pretty good in the Aussies' win last night... led the team in points.... Maybe Josh Green could put in a good word for us.

Thanks for the reply dude. I watched the game too and he did good... but his physical build is a bit off-putting. Looks like he could use more time in the gym, working on his shoulders and arms especially.
Btw, I came across college highlights videos of someone else more interesting today.
Jericho Sims, Texas Longhorns guy, 6'10", 245 lbs... 44.5 inch vertical. Reminds me of Jarrett Allen (as a rim protector + rim runner)... but he is quicker and has better lateral movement so is also able to defend wings on the perimeter. I really like his build/movement for a center in the modern NBA. He doesn't seem the sort who would let guys like Embiid or Giannis bully him either. At this stage tho, he is really raw on offense and will need a lot of coaching... but a team willing to put in the effort could have a real good asset. Perhaps, a job for Kokoskov? I looked at the mock drafts and some have him low, in the 50s, so he's get-able with a bought 2nd. I'd draft him on the defensive potential alone... but imagine if Kokoskov could teach him some European center skills and develop his offense.
