That looks like an easy match for Atlanta if Collins keeps this up. To snag an RFA, Dallas needs to go over and above like how they overpaid Barnes for GSW to back off the price tag. I personally do not think Collins is worth $115M or $120M. Kleber can start at PF. He is more effective there. So Dallas' money can be spent for a SF who can average another 15ppg. Send THJ and DFS to the 2nd unit. That would be a strong lineup.

In the past year the Hawks drafted a PF with the 6th pick, traded for Capela, and also signed Danilo... I’m not 100% sure they’d match since they don’t really need that much money dedicated to the PF position... Especially with the looming Trae extension that will put them in luxury tax territory

That's a fair point too.

My reservations with maxing Collins comes from the fact that when we do, that's essentially our team for the next 3 years. That's it. No more cap space, KP, Collins and Luka will be maxed out. Now when you look at it on paper, the question is will those 3 be enough to get you over the Lakers. Maybe if Collins keeps up his 20-10 stat line?

It’s a reach, but I would love for Dallas to pursue a Beal for KP swap if we were to sign another big long term like Collins. A Luka-Beal-Collins trio would be unstoppable

CHA has to make a choice between Graham and Rozier. Could Powell + Green + FRP get Rozier? Clearing Powell's $$$ cost a 1st IMO, and getting a player of Rozier's caliber cost a 1st. So they add Terry (17.9M 2021) while losing Powell (11) + Green (2.9). Net loss of 4M cap space. Maybe decide to operate as an over the cap team to open the larger MLE. Resign Richardson, THJ and hope to snag LMA (Or Bjelica) for the MLE?

G - Terry Rozier (28) / Jalen Brunson (20) / Tyrell Terry
G - Josh Richardson (28) / Tim Hardaway Jr (14) / Trey Burke (6)
F - Luka Doncic (34) / Tim Hardaway Jr (14) / Tyler Bey
F - Kristaps Porzingis (28) / Dorian Finney Smith (20) / James Johnson (VM)
C - LaMarcus Aldridge (24) / Maxi Kleber (24) / Boban Marjonivic (VM)
Terry Rozier would be a nice addition and he has a friendly contract. I'd gladly take his contract and utilize him. I believe he could be an RC guy and one he respects.

2020-21: $18,900,000
2021-22: $17,905,263

Its hard for me to watch THT and not see a guy with legitimate low end All Star potential. I think tendering a big RFA offer to him could pay off huge for the Mavs in the long run. He looks very, very legit. Defense looks great, surprising vision, good handle, developing 3PT shot, tough and athletic. Kid could become an absolute ideal secondary playmaker to Doncic, and his age fit is pretty unique when looking over the FA class.

For some reason Duncan Robinson intrigues me more than Victor Oladipo. he is RFA though. At what point do you think Miami would back off from matching? $20M? $25M per?

Then just sign Kelly Olynyk with the MLE to replace James Johnson

C- Porzingis / WCS / Boban
PF- Kleber / Olynyk / Powell
SF- Robinson / DFS
SG- RIchardson / Burke
PG- Doncic / Brunson

20$M for 11ppg bad defender? I rather pay THJ if he keeps shooting 40%-45% from long range.

A lot might not believe it, but I think Duncan Robinson will get paid. If JJ Reddick, Davis Bertans and Joe Harris can get contracts like that, it's not impossible for him to get paid too considering a lot of teams saved for cap room for 2021 only to see Giannis re-sign in Milwaukee. It's not what he is worth (because we know he isn't worth that much) but market dictates price. If Barnes can get $22M from Donnie 5 years ago, it's not impossible for him to dole out the same type of contract if you consider inflation. That was half a decade ago.

I can also envision Josh RIchardson asking the Mavs for the same type of contract. Anyone who thinks RIchardson and Bill Duffy will just be asking $10M and giving Cuban and Donnie some sort of discount needs to wake up. He's looking for Harrison Barnes type of money considering how he marketed himself as a "great teammate" and a "perfect fitting piece".

I know what you mean but like i said, THJ gives you a lot more than Robinson maybe even for less money. If he was 21 or 22 sure, but he's almost as old as THJ. I would 100% pay that much for Herro but no chance Miami lets him go anytime soon.

I think that Jrich is not in a position to demand such high amounts. Maybe in THJ's range sure, but no Barnes who is a scrub and got paid way too much from Vlade.

Barnes averaged 11 pts, 5 rebs and 1.7 ast too before Donnie handed him that $22M check.

In terms of fit, I think Robinson fits better. He's a legit 6'8 so he wont be undersized as a SF compared to THJ. But I get what you mean about their comparisons. The difference might not be worth the actual money they need to put out. Robinson just moves so well off the ball, running around like RIp Hamilton as opposed to THJ just standing in the corner waiting for Luka to pass. I guess he can run around too if he was instructed to. I guess?

For the record: If Duncan Robinson would cost over $20M, then Doug Mcdermott might be a better option at like $12 to $15M?

J RIch's agent is the same as Luka's agent. So politics will play out. If Cuban doles out a nice package for J-Rich, it keeps Bill Duffy happy and the bigger chance Luka stays in Dallas. Agents run the show nowadays. And it's stuff that happens off screen. The Lakers let Julius Randle walk because his agent wasnt able to bring Paul George to the Lakers. His contract was contingent on that. So it's about concessions with negotiating with agents. The last time Cuban cheapened out on Bill Duffy was when he let Steve Nash walk. So the relationship is a bit sour there, and Cuban might be inclined to fix that somehow for Luka's sake.

Luka is in no threat of leaving anytime soin and there is zero reason to overpay Richardson. He's a 12-14 million dollar guy and Id personally rather trade him than pay that.

You are very generous, my guy. I'd give RIchardson $10M tops. Then another $10M for THJ. But that might hurt their feelings and bring up all the betting on myself type of scenarios like Nerlens Noel did.

Cuban made a good point on Porzingis yesterday on the radio. He was asked about all of the injuries and if he’s considered moving on from KP. His response was “Thats what I thought about Steve Nash, and how’d that work out?”

Harrison Barnes at the time was a crazy amount of money but it decreases every season and as a forth option on a true contender he's productive enough that it justifies his contract.

At 22m this season he shows up for work every game and produces numbers. The problem is when we had him it was obvious he wasn't a number one or two option I'd we're serious about winning a title.

For instance, that was my problem with Josh Howard in the past, because I couldn't stand the fact that some fans loved him as our #2 or #3 option. He was very overrated.

Barnes:
2020-21: $22,215,909
2021-22: $20,284,091
2022-23: $18,352,273

He's actually part of my offseason prediction for the Mavs. That includes Spencer Dinwiddie opting out of BKN too. Clashing with Kyrie and playing 7 mins of basketball behind Harden now isnt going to do his value in 2022 any favors. Dallas can sign him to the same $20M he opted out of. Win win for both sides. Dallas doesnt need to overpay anyone the max, brings THJ and RIchardson back at decent deals, and signs Holmes using the MLE for $5M per.

C- Porzingis / WCS / Boban
PF- Kleber / Holmes / Powell
SF- RIchardson / DFS
SG- Dinwiddie / THJ
PG - Doncic / Brunson

That 2nd team is still strong. Hallmark of a true contender.

Only issue I don't see him taking a bench role as you suggest or just the 5 million.

If they could find a way to bring him, Dinwiddie, and 1 of Richardson/THjr back that would be a great offseason.
