Man that was a **** game all around. Luka looked like crap and the team stood around watching him most of the night. THJ was NYK THJ tonight with his **** selection. This team is a bad matchup for Kleber, Ayton too big and guards are too quick/crafty for him to excel (he was a -20 tonight in a 5 point game). Burke was a no show for the most part, Powell is not the same vertical threat and it vB shows in his minutes.
Brightest spot was WCS... +14 in his 6 minutes of play... why can’t he get more time. Why can’t he get some time with Luka? Brunson looked good in the 4th, Jrich was alright.
This team won’t win many games it shoots under 30% from 3... no team will. Suns have Mavs number for some reason

Dwight powell looks like he doesn't even belong in the NBA, that said I've thought we were a 6th or 7th seed and that hasn't changed

And people want to re-sign THJ back on the same contract and calling it a bargain? Really?

The Mavs shot 24% from 3. If they shot their normal 3 point percentage, they would have won.
Maybe they worked to hard on defense to close to the game and were tired. Or maybe it was just random. Just one game and an unusual one, so not a lot of conclusions to draw. Except that Powell continued to look out of sync. Looks like he got benched.

Powell's achilles is gone. And for a player who relies on quickness and athleticism like him, that's a death sentence. He'll just play out his contract it seems.

Looked terrible. Luka was the only one who actually was able to do something, but even he did it with low efficiency. Brunson may have had a good 4th q. but he took some terrible shots and was lucky they went in. Suns were a better team, but I knew that going forward.
I also said Powell shouldn't start and that Mavs will have a tough time even making the playoffs. All and all disappointed with how they played. Not in terms of making shots and stuff, but just general movement of the ball and play on offense and defense. Disappointed.

Signing Powell is essentially getting $13M from the bank, then flushing the paper money down your toilet when you get home. And doing that for 3 straight years.
So Carisle playing Powell is essentially seeing if they can get value from that dumb signing and justifying it for Cuban's ego that Ainge didnt fleece him from that Rondo trade. I bet Cuban keeps saying he won that trade. Repeating that sentence every time he goes to bed at night.

There is absolutely no logical reason to play Powell over WCS from here on out. I'd even say Boban at this point too.
We simply can't afford to experiment when we have proven capable vets that are clearly much better.
0-3 looks imminent and that is a hole that will be hard to overcome if the goal is to finish top 4.
