Treading water until the Mavs get to full strength. We finally get KP back and half our starters are out with COVID.

People need to realize everyone is going through this and being 8-8 treading water like you said is fine. Mavs are 1 game back of the 4 seed and Portland has lost 2 majors pieces to injury.

Agreed. Not time to panic. We are missing two starters and a quality backup with COVID right now. Powell doesn’t count.

It would have been miracle, if they had won today. Roster for yesterday's game was just very bad and it showed. Missing 3 starters + Kleber is just too much, if your bench is very bad in first place. Iwundu, Green and Johnson should play 20 minutes max. all 3 together not 20 minutes each. I believe Mavs should be very satisfied with 8/8 considering everything. Bad news is that this roster is pure trash after 9/10 players. Few injuries and this season can be over really soon. Our rookies + Iwundu looked horrible even in garbage time. Offseason was just incredible bad for the Mavs.

Awful night. However, I'm not going to read too much into it. Dallas beat the Clippers by 51 and LAC is still 12-4. Given the scheduling and thin roster, the Mavs are bound to have the occasional dud. Looking at the upcoming games, they don't have 2 days off until mid-February. Let's pray the Covid-boys are back soon, and that they don't have another significant setback like this again.

Luka is averaging 19.2 potential assists. This more or less show where the problem lies.

This is what i am wondering. Not everyone goes through this. A lot of teams had games postoponed. They seriously couldn't play rookies and G-league players like the Mavs? I am sure i'm missing something here but Mavs got probably screwed the most of any team out there. Plus injuries PLUS incredibly tough schedule. It is a miracle they are at .500 right now.

Last night showed that Mavs have zero firepower once KP is out and THJ decides he won't hit anything. It's like 09 Cavs or worse. Their lack of effort on defense was probably due to B2B, because in no world i can see them not get prepared for Gordon and DMC. No matter what kind of idiotic things Harper was talking on TV, like let him shot play the %, i mean, ffs know the hell you're playing against first then play %. I don't know, it just pisses me off how some teams can get the easy way out while Mavs are literally dragging their feet for the last two weeks.

So you mean the Mavericks don't have shooters and trading away a shooter when they are a commodity is a bad idea.

The Rockets were missing Oladipo and Wood, were also on a back to back and have a worst roster than the Mavs to begin with.

The difference is that they showed up.

Yeah the Mavs have maybe been hit the hardest so far by covid, but I don't know why people want to make excuse for this game. They weren't playing the Lakers. They were playing the Rockets without 2 of their best players, but didn't give any effort defensively.

Seth was playing 24.6 mins a game and averaged 9 FGA (5 of which from 3). Sure it would be nice to have him but that doesn't anywhere near make up enough of an excuse for others simply playing sub standard.

Richardson isn't playing at the moment so we cannot say for sure that trade was bad, but we can say for sure that bringing and drafting more or less only players, who cannot shoot, was very bad idea. Sure Mavs needed some D, but watching how Green, Iwundu and Johnson are playing with Luka is just painful. I can understand trade Richardson/Curry because Richardson while being better defender is solid shooter too. All other offseason signings are just totally wrong.

The team was missing their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th best players, the negativity on here is just too much.

My only complaint/question is, who in the heck was guarding Gordon and Cousins? I'm guessing Brunson and WCS/Boban?

Had a slim chance of a win with KP playing and 3 starters out. 4 starters out would be too difficult to pull off.

Yes, nothing unusual to lose without so many important players, but it's painfully obvious that this year's Mavs aren't any better than last year's Mavs. We didn't see anyone to step up in last 5 games. Mavs have more or less the same team - Curry and + Richardson as last year. Hard to understand what was the plan in this offseason? Maybe they really believed Giannis would be available next year and they have taken this season just as preparation for big trade next year. I hope with Giannis gone, they will make a trade as soon as possible.
