Looking at the schedule, you would think the Mavs have the 5th seed, but it all depends on if Phoenix and Denver are motivated to win those last games against Portland. Playing good teams at the end of the season is an advantage. Denver for sure aren't going to try hard and Phoenix could decide to sit Paul.
If the Jazz and Clippers win their next one, the seeding at the top could be almost decided already.

I think it's pretty much clear at this point that Mavs will play either LAC or Denver.

It looks that way. The Lakers look done. The Mavericks wins and Lakers losses have to add up to win only three games.
