Sign THJ for 60/4, starts at 14 millions, leaves 20 million in cap space, if negotiations become hard, explore signing Robinson or trading KP for Hield/Bagley.

It'll all depend on KP, if they are keeping him, then go and target a starting calibre point guard, that's the top priority for the team.
If he's shopped, you need to wait and see what you're getting for him.

KP for Horford/Williams --> Go and target a PG.
KP/Powell for Kemba/Thompson -- target big forward.
A wild, wild scenario would be, KP + Powell for John Wall + Christian Wood, John Wall is a bad 3 pt shooter and is used being in the spotlight, no sure how much he'd like taking the backseat to Luka -- if so target big forward

If the opportunity is there, I'd trade Brunson for Toppin/23' 1st and sign McConnel from Indiana to replace Brunson.
Vet min. signing to explore -- the Clippers assassins, Batum and Reggie Jackson.
Mid level players to explore (10-15 million/2 yrs) -- OPJ, Corey Joeseph

Anything is possible, but I don't see the elusive 2nd star being added this offseason. Summer of 2022 brings more enticing options to the table.

If no major additions are possible, then I favor improving the strategy the Mavs have right now, which is let it fly from deep. I want to cut down on the "If we're hot, we'll win. If we're not, we lose" element the Mavs have. Because no team stays hot for 4 rounds of the playoffs, excepts for maybe GSW with 2 all time shooters on their roster. Bottom line: THJ is too streaky for my liking. I'd favor upgrading with Duncan Robinson, if we can get him (which means overpaying). He's more consistent than THJ & I firmly believe playing with Luka will give Robinson a 5% boost on his 3PM%

Past that there's several options I would consider. Maybe Oladipo. Not opposed to Holmes (someone has to protect the rim). If we could somehow get our hands on Marcus Smart that would be amazing.

Biggest priority over upgrading shooting imo is finding someone, anyone who can break their man down off the dribble. Luka is the only penetrator on this team besides Brunson. Next biggest priority is finding someone to protect the rim since KP doesn't seem capable of it any longer.

It's gotten to the point of having to make a choice between RC and KP, I think Luka will have a say in this, but I really really doubt Cuban will take KP's side.

The entire off-season is predicated on whether the Mavs trade KP.

If they can find a trade partner, then the other positions of need are more clear. But the simple truth is almost all Mavs trades and signings revolve around this single issue. Carlisle will undoubtedly stay, and KP should be traded... but finding a trade partner will be the hard part.

Kawhi shot 62% in this series. He's a great player, but 62% in a playoff series is ridiculous. Illustrates just how poor the Mavs defense is.

I think I have to change my priority of another playmaker who can break his man down off the dribble to a defender who can at least slow down an opponent's top scorer. DFS is ok, but he's not good enough.

Marcus Smart would address both issues.

It's a good read, particularly in regards to being too comfortable with the front office.

They also stood pat thinking about Giannis and over-managed with player salaries for this season. Now they are stuck in a off-season with few big names. They can still change all this with one good off-season, but they struck out badly in providing an adequate support cast for Doncic. Now they have to go all out in a less-than-adequate off-season.

I just read the part about remove Luka from the Mavs roster, then remove other playoff teams best player and compare the rosters against each other.

That's a bit frustrating to me because Mavs fans have been fiercely loyal & defensive of some very average talent. Fans are currently too high on THJ. People say he's a must resign, when in reality he's a take him or leave him player. Fans really overrate DFS' defensive ability. If DFS was as good as people say, then Kawhi wouldn't have shot 62% for an entire 7 game series.

Fans have long overrated Dwight Powell and even going back a ways JJ Barea. My point is it's not just the Mavs organization that needs to get real about the roster from top to bottom. The fanbase needs a reality check too.

Prime Barea's the man dude. I would take him over any guard in this roster outside of Luka.

Josh and Kirk do a pretty good job.

The podcast touched on alot of this a well.

Pretty funny that even a very optimistic Dalton Trigg is demanding changes lol.

Bodes well. It's been a long time since the FO faced any pressure.

I would love to trade KD for Harrison Barnes. Barnes is solid on defense and can shoot the three. He is a perfect fit for Luka. Why we gave him away for cap space was stupid.

What are the chances of a Kyle Lowry - Demar Derozan reunion in Big D?

Let's say, THJ asks for $24M, so he walks. JRich opts out and walks. Reddick contract expires. Is the money enough?

There's 34 million, I think it can be enough for 72/4 for DDR and 54/3 for KL, which would be fine I think, you pay the the room exception for another wing and sign a backup big for the minimum, but you'd have extremely thin 4/5 of KP/Powell/Maxi, and an extremely thin bench of Brunson/Burke/DFS/Green/Terry.

Derozan might be a good fit. Can create his own shot and good playmaking ability. The big hole is he's a terrible 3 pt shooter. I wonder what this team would look like with Brandon Ingram too.KP for Ingram straight up trade. Pels need a stretch 4 or 5 to help Zion in the half court game.
