Game of the season right here.

“We’ll be fine, but today was a terrible day. We couldn’t make nothing. We’ve got 81 to go, so nothing to worry about.” - L77
“Not to worry, but we have to pick it up pretty fast.” - JB
“There’s no need to second-guess ourselves now. It’s just one game – the first game of the season. (Blowouts) happens sometimes. But we’re looking forward to the next one.” -KP
“But we’ll go back and look and see what they did so we can learn from it and get better for the next game.” - Head coach

Raptors play the Celtics on Friday.

There's a 2nd game???

I thought the season ended with the loss to ATL.

All jokes aside, 1st game was as brutal as it gets. Turning the page and praying for something that actually resembles a real game.

Can't emphasize enough it's game 1.

The Raptors looked pretty brutal against the Wiz. If Siakim was playing it might be different.

I'm very interested in how Kidd decides to use Luka this time. He didn't have any confidence last night in taking shots and tried to overpass way too much.

And also, hopefully they can shoot better than 33% from the field aswell.

Prediction: There will be a minimum of 10 posters in this thread who are ridiculing Kidd's coaching and treating Carlisle like the one who got away by the end of the 4th quarter.

None of those posters will remember Carlisle's only interview after leaving Dallas where he raved about Jason Kidd and basically lobbied for Kidd to be the Mavs new head coach, weeks before it happened.

So riddle me this, If Kidd sucks so bad, and Carlisle has the biggest basketball brain on the planet, then why did Carlisle stump for Kidd to be his replacement? As a practical joke on the Mavs???

I think you may be forgetting Carlisle is the president of Coaches association. Of course he will not criticise other coaches. Remember what he said about Pierce when he was fired in ATL? And he was terrible by all objective measures. When it comes to coaches Carlisle is always cordial and flattering. Most coaches are like that. Or are you that naive and think that coaches dont lie, especially when it comes to their peers?

Trolling Cuban for sure. :)

But yeah, he knows Kidd personally, he can't throw him under the bus.

Are your arguing that Kidd is a great coach? I'm interested to hear the argument. If not, I'm not sure what you are trying to say.

It's actually not that complicated to get a better than average offense from the Mavs. All you have to do is not get in the way. Anything under 48 wins will probably be considered like below average coaching from me.

I agree, offensively Kidd has an easy job. Let Luka do his thing with this group. Cant be worse than what they were trying to do vs Hawks.

His job should be coaching up the defense. The problem with that is KP. He seems lost on offense and when he doesnt get it going, he stops playing on defense. And Kidd talking about posting him up more is so ridiculous I thought he was kidding at first but apparently he actually meant it haha. Luckily the Mavs have Luka who will just stop passing KP the ball in the post if at some point. He knows more about offense than most coaches in the league anyway.

I hope to see a more productive game tonight. Mavs are favored by 3.5 points.

I doubt Kidd will give up on his ideas so easily.

Simple. I'm saying if you believe Kidd is terrible and Carlisle was great, then recognize that Carlisle endorsed this hire.

Trolling Cuban is an excuse. People on this forum have come up with every lame excuse in the book for Carlisle. It's widely known that Carlisle is a horse's ass & players don't like him. Always the comeback is "How do you know that?" As if because I'm not sitting on the Mavs' bench with a tape recorder handy, it couldn't be true.

Trolling Cuban? What's more likely? The guy who countless times said having Jason Kidd on the court was like having another coach out there was legitimately trying to help publicize a coaching candidate he believes in, or he was trolling Mark Cuban (for reasons why???) because it fits your narrative better.

Carlisle is a good coach whether he really endorses Kidd or just wants to be nice to him. He also seems way too emotional and it's quite possible that the players didn't like him considering his screaming.

"Trolling Cuban" was a joke. Did you notice the smile?

You seems to be arguing way too much about this considering most people wanted RC gone... Just not replaced by Kiid without due diligence.

We need a W and a good performance by our future trade assets

I hope Kidd mix up the players, in the first game we seen the last year same rotation. Put Moses and EO in the mix! Come on!

Carlisle... whether he really endorses Kidd or not?

What do you call it when you give an interview and say "I think Jason Kidd is the coach the Mavericks should hire"?

What are you talking about really endorses him? Carlisle did endorse Kidd.

Honestly, I still don't understand what your point is and why it bothers you that much, so I don't know why I got myself involved in this. I shouldn't have.
