It's so simple to read stupidities.
Maybe the solution is to trade Luka.
Come on! They are an awful team, you can demand to Luka to be the hero and at the same time play for Powell and DFS.
This is not a problem of spacing or play with two centers, it's a problem of players. Give Luka two good centers and the will be feed extraordinarily. Give him good finishers and creators in the wings and he will give their good solution.
Don't be blind, the problem is the roster.

The lineup of Brunson, Frank, THJ and KP was very effective, but they played against Bulls w/o Vuc and LaVine.
If the goal is to protect KP from physical centers, then go find a physical center, Powell ain't it, he doesn't provide defense or rebounding, and the P&R with him and Luka, his only saving grace, isn't working.
Luka isn't himself, yeah there are lots of problems, namely Powell, DFS and WCS forgetting how to play BBall, but Luka isn't Luka of last 2 seasons.

Luka played bad, no doubt.

But stop with Powell and DFS as starters and stop WCS. He is terrible.
11 games are enough, it's time to try something new.

Brunson needs to start, Frank needs more minutes.
Green and Omouryi needs a try. Come on.

We are only weak, it's useless talking about starting lineup/spacing/fitting guys/3point %/rebounding.
They have 4 potential all star and Patrick Williams (out last night) who is a rising star. Too much for us.

A weaker roster than this routinely beat up on PO teams last year.

The roster is the more or less the same, no significant adding this year.
Yes true, in a 82games season happens that bad teams beat good teams...and so?
This year we are 0-4 with 4 blowouts. Embarassing.

Powell is starting because Kidd asked Luka THJ and Porzingis if he could and they got approval for it. Its the fake avengers running the show. Kidd is a place holder trying to be a player's coach by being buddies with everyone. As advertised to be fair, so I wouldn't say Im surprised. Being a player's coach is his only ace coming in.

Luka is playing more or less non stop with Powell and DFS. First 5 the most used lineups are with those 3 players in it. They have played 200 minutes together. You don't need to be exactly a genius to see that cannot work. And as cherry on the cake Kidd is adding KP in combination with Powell. What a coach.

There is no way Luka can look good in those lineups.

Luka was killing the league last year with Jrich, THJ, DFS, Powell lineup.

Teams do not want to trade for Powell now that he has shown how he is a bad fit so I hope we are not playing him to increase his trade value. I hope Kleber gets back soon.

NBA teams scout these guys so you cant pull off the same tricks every year. They have whole departments dedicated to just watching videos and game tape. This year Luka seem to have added a mid range game. But ita not as efficient as one would like so maybe they get to workout the kinks there.

I doubt it's scouting Arkuo, Luka is a one man wrecking crew with every tool in the toolbox, like everyone is screaming here, spacing is different, and they are trying to force things, they need some straightening out IMO.

The most used lineup with Powell, DFS and Luka was disastrous last year too. 98 offensive rating. There were some good lineups with those 3 players too, but Luka didn't play more than half of his playing time in those lineups. And Rick for sure didn't see KP and Powell starting together on regular basis.

The problem is that they start with totally nonfunctional lineup, so coming in rhythm is almost impossible for Luka. He normally had great first Qs, not this year.

Watching Kidd, I don't know, if Rick was genius or Kidd is total .....

He has to get rid of those difficult midrange shots/fadeaways. He's not good enough shooter to make those shots being efficient.

Luka is a great player but he's got a long way to go before he's the msn on a championship team. He needs to stop playing like hes at rucker and act like these are NBA games. His style can be fun to watch but it's like 90% of his turnovers are dumb lobs in traffic or getting so deep in the paint he has no shot and nobody to pass to. And his shot selection is still abysmal, maybe those things change with better cast mates but he surely isn't maximizing his talent

it's been 11 games, this lineup has worn out its welcome, Powell should go to the bench or preferably traded for a physical center in bad situation like Favors, this team has no bruiser at all.
Kidd is trying to be players' coach IMO, especially after he was portrayed as psychopath when Giannis book came out, the needs some slap in the face, DFS is on contract year if he doesn't get hos **** together, it's gonna cost him 10s of millions on his new deal, he's gone from MLE+ kind of guy to 1/3 that at best.

Brunson let the Mavs down. How many 3s are JB allowed on Caruso and Ball? That's the different of the game. The Mavs just lacks defense here and there. DFS ain't being effective as well. With Maxi, the Mavs have trouble against any elite teams with so many elite driving threats. Chicago is far more athletic than the Mavs team. Powell is not going to get your team any where. Powell is just not a good paint defender.

Slovenia had almost as good offense as the USA in the Olympics. Slovenia also completely shut down Sabonis and Jonas in qualifiers, yet Mavs struggled only with Jonas and a poor NO team.

It's true that Luka is completely out of sync so far, his conditioning is not helping, that's true, but there are also other factors in play here.

Team is more or less the same but everyone, except Brunson and maybe KP, looks worse. It's obvious where problem is and I don't believe much can be done about that. Kidd looked as mistake and it looks even worse now.

Has there ever been a great NBA player that also became a great coach? Bird was a good one (not sure if great) but I dont remember any others.
I was all for getting a new coach but only if they found a decent sub. I didnt like the Kidd hire from the start and its showing to be a big miss despite the current record. I expect the Mavs to be a .500 team very soon, probably within the next 8-10 games.
