I think this roster has reached its limit .. Rick really did magic with these guys .. Outside of Luka, we are one of the 3/4 worst teams in the NBA. No assets, no space, and no high-ceiling prospects and various types of overpaid THJ / KP / Bullock / Powell ... the only valuable thing expiring. (Jalen / DFS) .. At this point what to do ?? Luka begins his supermax next year, in my opinion it is time to exploit it or inevitably Luka will ask to leave in 2/3 years when he is trapped in absolute mediocrity ..
What would some ideas do?
THJ for MPJ ​​..?
Brunson for Kemba + Dallas23 ..? something for Sexton ..?
Rest Luka and get a high selection? or on the contrary fight to fall in 1 round (in the best of cases)
Thoughts..?

God no, the team has 4 useless centers, trade for Favors or Thompson for 25 MPG bruiser, sign Dragic and hope for THJ and Bullock to find their rytham.

What has Rick done for the talented Indiana lineup? A 9-14 record.

This team is far worse now than when Rick was Coach. Players have been paid since RC coached them and some aren't as productive now.

Cuban doesn't believe in tanking. He's always done just enough and built teams to have regular season success. We currently are #4 with a 10-9 record so no we shouldn't tank.

That Pacers team has the same issue as the Mavs. They've had the same players too long, but unlike the Mavs they don't have a legit #1 (Sabonis isn't one to me)

Correct... But switch Luka / Sabonis so you have a contender and a lottery team.

Im for tanking for 1 season just to get an asset. The Mavs arr currently stuck in a rut. No cap space, and no trade assets. Only 2 ways to improve the team. 1, have a clean slate and let all the players' contracts run out. 2, tank and get a top pick. Similar to how the spurs got Duncan. The Mavs are not good enough to compete and reach the finals. You're competing for 2nd place at best. Go the Spurs route and get yourself a Tim Duncan.

Tim is possibly the best power forward to ever play. When he came out of college he was a sure thing that most of us alive knew would make the Spurs an instant success. There's not a Tim Duncan in every draft.

Our front office must find ways to acquire talent, make creative moves, and stop giving away first round picks, or any draft picks. Cuban is behind most of this over the years.

Curiously enough, there is a PF in this year's draft who looks like he will be an excellent player and fit very well alongside Luka/Porzingis... Jabari Smith Jr. I'm not sure if the Mavs can get a high enough pick to get him though.

Agreed!

Mavs cant tank. Only way that would be possible is if luka is out rest of the season. A pick in the 10-15 range is nothing special.

Agreed!

I would love to have Jabari Smith Jr. I watched some of his high school games and I have high hops for him. He's only getting better the more he plays with Auburn.

As far as Tim Duncan goes, he spoiled all of us at the time, because he played all four years. The Spurs just happened to be the perfect system for him.

I hope KP's value increases as his productivity does and we can use him in a trade for future assets.

I don't think the Mavs should tank but definitely need to makes some moves that would be considered taking a step back in order for them to move on.

This year's team is a treadmill 8th seed talent.
We're one Luka injury away from being firmly out of the playoffs/play-in.
With all the extra weight Luka seems to be carrying, i wouldn't be surprised if nagging ankle and knee issues keep him off the court.
Tanking this year would help us long-term.

Outside of maybe the Lakers do any of the teams behind them really scare you with all the injuries and mediocrity?

The Clippers should be able to make a run with a string of wins by sheer firepower alone. If the Mavs fall to 5 or 6, that means they face the Warriors or the Jazz in the first round.
