Looks like he might be on the trading block. What, if anything, can the Mavs give up to get him?

I'd be happy to have him, especially if it can involve KP somehow. Then move Maxi to the 5

Last year they offered Maxi for him, which was an obvious no. Mavs can’t really offer much more except Hardaway and a pick, which I don’t think Atlanta considers

He's perfect running mate to Luka offensively, athletic, smart, and can shoot, defensively, he'll make matters worse, he's very small for a big man.
Hawks are looking to contend, I'm not sure what pieces Mavs can offer to get him, but if Hawks wanted to trade him for Simmons, which is the most likely destination, then Mavs can get overpaid Tobias instead with THJ/Powell, Sixers won't pay 110 mil/yr for the PF/C positions.

John Collins is no longer a great asset for the Hawks; now that he's paid the big bucks and yet still not happy with his situation.
If the Hawks miss the playoffs, they'd be way more inclined to sell low on Collins. It might be best to explore a trade in the offseason.

Definitely buy-low opportunity. His track record with health is better than Porzingis' but a notch below in skillset. For what he does well though, he works for this team, especially if we can deal separately for Myles.

No reason to over think things. Collins wants more touches, it's as simple as that, and Atlanta just made a move that will give Collins more.
Collins should be praised for wanting to contribute more. One issue with the Hawks team is that they have a logjam and aren't doing a very good job at allowing their key players to have enough attempts. While Trae gets his and creates for the rest of the team, Collins has been stuck, and change needs to occur.

The likelihood Atlanta trades Collins is slim unless it involves a lottery pick or a proven talent.

Yea, good luck in the playoffs guarding Jokic, Gobert, and Ayton. Maxi would be destroyed. He guards small forwards then he guards center. Ridiculous idea to start him at center.

Collins is great, but we need KP at center in the playoffs to spread the floor. Collins does not play defense well and is nothing special, just a very good player that does not move the needle for the Mavs. What we need is a wing guard /forward who is at the all-star level or close to it, giving us versatility. I see us trading Brunson for something.

I think the likelihood is that that Atlanta is trying to swing him and picks for Simmons.

Best we can offer to fit their team and save them money is Maxi + DFS + Powell for Collins + LouWill (if they want off his contract). Doubt Atlanta buys on that unless they really have buyers remorse (which their GM has expressed).

The Hunter that played against the Mavs in the 1st game of the season is a keeper, I wouldn't trade him.

They just traded away Reddish to NY, so I doubt Hunter is available.

KP is better than John Collins. I would like to have Collins but not in exchange for KP. In exchange for THJ absolutely, but not for KP.

I prefer KP over Collins too, and Maxi can't play 5 against big centers.

At one point I wanted John collins especially 2019 I would have traded KP in a millisecond.

Problem both these guy are injury prone and I refuse to trade KP for someone else who also can’t play a fairly full season.

As of right now I’m cool with KP, but I need to see him improve and hopefully become a little more sturdy. He’s been the exact same player for about 4 years. Atleast become more automatic from 3 or just shooting in general since you love shooting. That’s all I ask of him.
