WCS Waived -- Chriss signed

Post#1 » by Mavrelous » Sat Jan 15, 2022 10:06 pm

Mavs offseason was pure insanity, 34 million in cap space used to re-sign THJ and pick up WCS option.
I liked WCS last year, he worked well with Luka, his quick feet proved valuable on defense, but he was non-factor in the PO, and he came to this season in aweful shape.
I don't think Chriss is that good of a player, I think that once you put a long athletic guy with some go to moves, he'll feast next to Luka and Brunson.

Wow I was just responding to another thread about this.

Somethings are just very obvious moves. No need to keep him inactive, he played hard and made sure he was noticed. Now hopefully he keeps it up

WCS was a trading piece, 4 mil expiring that can be used as a filler, I guess it means this is most likely the team that will be there at the end of the season.

Unless a trade was going to go down today I agree. Cut your losses with WCS and go with the better player.

Agree, no WCS trade makes me think we're gonna stand pat with the roster.

But Chriss was a good player for us and this is a good contract. Good to see him stay on board.

Good for Chriss. He has played hard for us this last month. I am not sure of how much upside he has, maybe a Powell replacement, but I like that he plays hard. His positives have outweighed his negatives.

Willie Cauley-Stein better prove himself soon or else be won't be in the league much longer. He was a trade piece that was never used and now we can move on.

Good move from the FO, Chriss played well enough to deserve the contract. Welcome to the Mavs, Chriss!

I hope Chriss realizes what a great opportunity this is for himself and continually works to improve his conditioning and game. Was also hoping the Mavs could trade a package of WCS and either of the Browns for one player, freeing up a spot for Chriss in that manner, but I guess there were no trades to be had for that package.
