Luka going end one assist shy of a triple double, but the win is much more important.

Great team win. Everyone contributed in some way and just played much tougher then the Warriors.

I know Dinwiddie and Luka are gonna get a lot of the attention today but I think both DFS and Dwight were the ones that really brought the intensity on both ends and made very timely buckets.

Nico's plan of placing Luka between Dinwiddie and Levert (had Indiana agreed) would have been very good offemsively. In hindsight.

This is crazy. Then almost scores a 41pt triple double after.

Luka's just killing it right now. Now averaging 28, 9 and 9 for the year AND most surprising of all on 105.2 defensive rating which is tied for 8th best in the NBA.

The fact that he's almost never mentioned in MVP convos this year is ridiculous. There's no way he's not at least ahead of Steph who is not even having a good year for his standards.

Golden State started out 18-2 and Steph starting the season hot. He hasn't been that great since and the Warriors are 25-18 in their last 43 games. The Mavs started out 16-18 and have been killing it ever since at 22-7. It sucks that Steph started the all star game in front of Luka, but Luka didn't really get on fire until after the team went through COVID.

The past 3 or so games were character wins. Blown leads then collecting themselves again and closing out strong. This young team is growing.

Yeah man I know Steph deserved all the MVP considerations in the beginning of the season but a majority of people still have Steph top 5 in MVP race which he shouldn't be anymore when you consider his serious struggles and how average they have been since Draymond went down. No disrespect to Steph, he's an all time great. But the totality of Luka's season has been better and he clearly has more to carry on his shoulders.

Luka is literally the most valuable player in the league. Take him out of the Mavs and the Mavs have lottery picks the next 10 years. I don't know how they define that in their book. I think they also consider media votes as well as votes from other players too. And when those things are considered, politics come into play. Who's close to who and what not.

Agreed. In days past, we would blow leads, pout and start chucking up 3s and just pray we're able to outduel a team offensively. Now our defense, especially in 4th quarters, comes up big and we have 3 guys that can settle an offense and get good shots.

Coach Kidd took a lot of heat to start this season by everyone here, including myself. But it seems his belief in the players has really resonated and he's starting to push all the right buttons. It's awesome to see.

A team who never give up it's a good team.
Very proud of this group.

Trade KP was an huge move, now everybody share the ball, everybody are happy and help each others.
I don't know if was KP fault but the air is changed, ok winning is important too of course.

Bertans is ice cold. Damn.

OMG Spencer. He is the extra ball handler we needed (THJ can't dribble and Dragic is old) plus his 1vs1 game seems solid.

I'm blown away how well Dinwiddie fits on this team. Very impressive. Some guys just fit better chemistry wise. He gets to the rim so easily and is a pretty good passer. This was a great pickup for the Mavs.

Mavs spacing is the key to all that. When you have all 5 guys hanging outside the 3 point line, Dinwiddie has all the space to beat his man to the rim. If a double team comes, he just kicks out to the open guy. It's been run over and over with different variations but same concept. Luka is similar when you have a 5-out offense and layered screens. It's a tough guard.

Sample size...

Brunson has a way better year than Dinwiddie. Dinwiddie won't stay hot like that. He's taking some tough shots that he has often missed on the past years. .664TS% is simply unsustainable for a guy averaging .539TS% for his career.

Still, I think there's a good chance he can become the best version of himself as a sixth man.
