Regardless of what Cuban says publicly, he's got to be kicking himself about Brunson.

Kyrie may demand a 4-year max, believing that the Mavs have no choice but to give it to him because after letting Brunson walk for nothing back, the team won't let it happen again.

So they sign him and worry about having to trade him later if necessary. Or hope to be able to find good values in free agency.

Or young players like Green and Hardy will become even better next season and be able to complement Luka and Kyrie well enough to make the team more competitive.

They may have to wait until 2024-25 season to try to trade THJ and Bertans as expirings, get some assets back to replace them with more 2-way players.

Bertans 2024-25 contract is $5 million guaranteed, fully guaranteed if plays 75% of reg. games in 2023-24. My guess is they let him play fewer than 75% of the games and pay him off $5 million to not return the next season.

Cuban will ride this train til the wheels fall off. Kyrie 4 year max offer is pretty sure from the Mavs end. It's Kyrie accepting that offer that is in question.

You gotta put the team and Luka in position to win something the next 4 years. Kyrie with all his question marks is still All NBA talent. Even if you let him walk, you're not going to get all NBA talent back in an instant. So keeping him and Luka together, plus changing the pieces around him would be priority 1. Maybe that's why Cuban opted to keep Kidd around too. For his relationship with Kyrie.

That is definitely a huge part of why they’re sticking with Kidd. Also because they just love Kidd. He’s a huge part of the history of the organization and Cuban is a fanboy. Based on a report I saw today the Mavs believe that if they don’t correct the problems with this team by 2024 Luka will ask to be traded. I don’t know if this is the timeline Luka gave them or if this is just what they believe. Luka is clearly not having fun though.

Because of that I think they HAVE to resign Kyrie even if it means giving him the full max which is something like 5 years $275M. Then use all your resources to fix the front court. And if you can go get DFS back, Luka needs friends and teammates he likes around him.

That report is fake. That came from Tim McMahon. Cuban isnt even talking to Mcmahon. So he's talking out of his ass saying some Dallas team executives are worried about Luka requesting a trade in 2024 yada yada. What sources? Team execs in Dallas have an extra small circle. It's just Cuban and Nico. It's not a team that's own by multiple corporations or investment firms. It's just owned by one guy, ran by one GM. One of those isnt talking to him, so it's highly likely he's inventing sources to churn out articles that have high click rates.

That’s very possible.
