This MUST come with an immediate extension for him surely. Also I hope we have a great Psychiatric department. Talent wise it hurts to lose Spence imo but obviously what Kyrie can do on court is unquestionable and not giving up Wood is massive.
Edit: Looks like Markieff Morris part of the deal too.

If he extends(they had to agree on the extension with the picks included) i like it ..I Love Dodo but he's a role Player...Spencer was good but he's Got a contract for next season only and I'd be hesitant to give him 20-25 mio 4 year deal ...now you have to extend Wood and bring in some great supporting cast...Bojan Bogdanović makes Sense now(give a first and bertans)

This would have been run past Luka and they would've talked to Kyrie too. So there must be a clear understanding established that this is Lukas team and that they will extend Kyrie immediately - otherwise they wouldn't give up Spence and Picks.

I feel sorry for you guys. Kyrie is unprofessional as it gets and will blow your team up on a whim. Good luck, but Cuban did not think this through

Do the Mavs have cap space to offer Kyrie even 1 year deal at the max after this season?
Never mind 4 or 5 years, total contract of over $200 million?
We'll see if your turn/my turn works for the Mavs.
It could help reduce usage for Luka if Kyrie continues his play at 50/40/90 levels.
But one of the reasons Mavs let Brunson go was that he was this little guy, who was effective on offense but had a ceiling because of his size.
Kyrie is a big time shotmaker but Luka is already that, has already hit several game-winning shots.
But if they're both playing at all-NBA levels, it's great for the Mavs.
Here's where it might not turn out well.
1. Give Kyrie $200 million in guaranteed money, what's to say he won't take games off like he did with Brooklyn, or get into more off court controversies? He's bailed on every team he's been on, bailed on Lebron and the Cavs, bailed on the Celtics and now basically got himself traded out of Brooklyn.
2. How sustainable is his game? He will turn 31 at the end of March. The history with shorter guards who rely on their athleticism after they are over 30 years isn't great. There were questions raised about players like Lowry, Isaiah Thomas and Kemba among others when they were up for a big extension when they were around 30.
Kyrie has bounced back from injuries but now that he's over 30, that might not be the case.
Cuban must be willing to extend Kyrie if it works out, because he's given up a FRP and two rotation players. But wasn't sure how much cap space the Mavs had, whether they can fit in another max player.

Like Kyrie as a person or not, he's still probably an all-star the next 5 years. I think it was a great trade.

The team was already blown up. When Luka isn't on the floor this team is historically bad and a drastic change was needed. No idea if it was Kyrie or not but I guess when he does show up he always lights it up.

I'm no cap expert but according to ESPN we can offer him $78.6m for 2 years now until June. Then we would own his rights and could go over the cap to re-sign him? Someone enlighten me but it's safe to assume this trade was discussed with Kyrie and signed off on by Luka.

Thomas had an Achilles injury. The rest of the guards you listed didn't have Kyrie's talent.

I wish you guys the best, seriously. I just can't sugar coat it.
Celtics and Cavs fans warned Nets fans and we ignored them. I hope things go differently for your squad, but just be prepared for the worst.

Okay. So now Nico put his money where his mouth is and got Luka some All NBA help.
The ball is now in Luka and Kidd's hands to make it work on court.
Impressive. DFS and Dinwiddie + 1 FRP got it done.

Honestly I hate losing Spence, great guy and great player but objectively this is a great deal assuming Kyrie is extended and our FO and Kidd think they can control him.

Luka approved this deal too. no way he was kept in the dark.
They got their work cut out for them now, that's for sure. On paper it should work.
There are 5 teams ahead of Dallas in the West. Not one of those teams have a PG that can stop Kyrie barreling to the rim. Yes, that list includes Ja Morant. The jump from 6th place to 3rd in the west is like 3 games difference. Kyrie should have an impact instantly.

I'm not going to defend this trade because we all know what Kyrie brings with him. And if it doesn't work out, Mavs will be eventually left with nothing.
The only good thing about this is Green finally getting more minutes and a chance to further develop. But Mavs still desperately need some rim protection and rebounding.

Good value considering what Dallas sent out.
It depends on Kyrie's mental state. Dallas is one of the few teams with black GM, a black CEO and a black president. If Kyrie;s gunning for civil rights for the black communities he's supporting, he can come on board with that angle.
I would like to think Nico's relationship with Kyrie back at Nike would play a major role in extension talks. Not a single GM now has ties with Nike that Nico had with Kyrie.

The absolute worst case is Kyrie walks. That means you converted Dinwiddie and DFS into expiring contracts. That's still acceptable going into a rebuild. Dallas is one team that can risk a rebuild because Luka is very young.
