Damn man, i have never seen you to be so passionate in the past 5 years. They really got to you
But this FO made some horrible decisions since the 2018 draft when they landed Brunson and Luka, it's honestly not even shocking to me anymore what they're doing. It's almost like one step forward and 3 steps back.
If Kyrie walks, this might actually be the best thing for this franchise. They'll get rid of ton of cap and will only have to deal with THJ/Brunson contracts. Then just start fresh and hope for the best.
Luka needs to get his ass in a better shape. He had MONSTER games and was nr1 MVP candidate, people suddenly forgot how hard he carried this team until he got injured, but he needs more stamina to be able to sustain all of that.
If Cuban can pull his head out of his ass, maybe they can find some great pieces and go from there. But if they resign Kyrie, this team will be soooo tight with money, we'll be watching Powell as a starting center for the next few years again.
The Mavs/fans have through this type of situation (tank vs compete) before drafting Luka. Even worse really. Because the Mavs had no real hope from the season start... no youth... but they "competed". So not a lot to look forward to.
Time flies, but I'll never forget this game.

Aim there was to get to .500 to shave the beards.
There were several seasons like that.
Things are much better now, at least Mavs fans know Luka is around for a year or two or three. Or probably for life.
The situation right now is unique: fans aren't worried about moving down spots in the draft. They are upset at watching their draft pick fall to the Knicks. That's what makes it unique - you give up a draft pick that you could try to keep. But yeah, in the NBA, about half the teams at some point have fans arguing about tanking and half the fanbase upset when the team wins.
As for Luka and being competitive, it's just surreal that each year people discuss whether he is in shape or not... or even if he got fat during the season. Browsing the internet earlier, I saw this comment that was quite amusing...
A lot of people really discussed that Luka gained weight when he missed some games. Obviously this makes no sense and he has to figure out a plan in order to both show up in shape and stay in shape through the entire season.
He's obviously not the problem or reason why the team sucked. He's good enough as it is to have a team competing for a #1 seed.
I was all for "Play in/Play-offs" and I enjoyed the Mavs vs Warriors game - they competed hard and should have won that one. But lost. hen they had a terrible effort and lost to the Hornets at home and right there was when a decision should have been made to think ahead to next year. Since then, just feels like they - team/players - blew their chances and the "franchise" (front office) should be the grown ups in the room and just play it smart to end the year.
I don't buy this "we're competitive" excuse when they had so many chances lately and during the year to "take care of business". Anyway, we as fans can't change the decisions or anything, so just pray for the best.
