Insert Dogs playing poker painting here. That’s how I picture the Mavs FO when making franchise decisions.

Would you be able to provide some insight on Lindsey? Want to hear a Jazz fan's perspective.

Wasted multiple firsts on George Hill, Rubio, and Conley. Traded Derrick Favors then overpaid him a summer later, and had to send OKC a first to dump. Signed Ed Davis then used a 2nd to dump him a year later. Didn’t trade Hayward when there were plenty of signs he was leaving. He was in love with Udoka when we needed to draft Desmond Bane because we had no wing depth.

Only positives:

Was able to trade up for Mitchell and Gobert.

Signed Bojan.

The guy wasted so many assets by sitting on his hands or overpaid for players that then needed to be dumped. Fans thought Utah fans would hate Ainge’s almosts, but I would take those over Lindsey’s hand sitting.

Not the best record, but the good thing is, Cuban understands he's **** things up and is looking for proffisional help to run the team.

Oh boy. Doesn't sound like someone you want "advising."

Wouldn't call Hill/Rubio/Conely 1sts "waste", they are good players.

Hopefully the FO can land the 2 way player (at least above average both offensively and defensively) that we are currently lacking.

So the Mavs is interested in Gobert, Clarkson or Beaseley.

We'll see this summer. Nico mentioned he's aware of the two things the mavs clearly lacked. So we'll see if they act on it.

Hill played with Utah for one year (Utah sent in a pick in the teens), Rubio played with Utah for a year or two (Wolves got 2018 1st), and Utah sent two firsts and Grayson Allen (rookie) for Conley. We could have traded for a star with 4 1sts.

I mean, a first for Hill for him to walk, a first for Rubio because Hayward said he wanted him only for Hayward to walk a few weeks later only to then let Rubio walk, two firsts for Conley when we already spent firsts. He could have kept Rubio, and used those firsts to upgrade elsewhere on the roster, for example. He wasn't the worst but he really mismanaged some assets and it was the reason Utah was never able to maximize the core he built.

Danny Ainge traded a 1st for Kyrie (that turned to Sexton), then Kyrie bolted and traded T-Roz for Kemba that backfired and Stevens paid a 1st to replace him with Horford, I still think Ainge is the best GM in the league.
Sometimes moves don't work out, but none of these 3 is a bad player to trade a 1st for (or 2 in case Conely).

Well, we were all glad to see him gone. Had two great draft picks (Mitchell, Gobert), one decent one (Hood) and the rest was wasted picks or bad trades. Some decent free-agent signings, but a lot of it was also Quin. We got Marvin Williams b/c of Quin, Joe Ingles stayed with the team b/c Quin liked him, we got Clarkson because Quin liked combo guards off the bench (was pushing for Lou Williams and when we couldn't get him we pivoted to Clarkson). And it turns out most of our draft success was Walt Perrin who did our scouting. The whole FO and coaching staff were apoplectic at him drafting Udoka, and my sense is they wanted Quickley (who has obviously been much better).

Utah could have used those firsts to upgrade the LF spot. Rubio-Mitchell-Bogey-?-Gobert would have been pretty decent.

drafting is so hit or miss everyone has errors in judgement when they draft guys but the higher you draft the better your odds and that has always been the case. Trading you tend to get better results if you can trade because you have assets.
