Finals 2024 - G3 - Mavs Vs Celtics (Wednesday, 8:30 PM EST)

Post#1 » by Mavrelous » Wed Jun 12, 2024 5:44 am

The circus has moved to town.
I think Mavs did mostly OK on defense last game, there were some very unlucky bounces that led to unfortunate offensive rebounds , but they were able to decently contest most of the shots at the expense of exposing the rim a bit, Celtics did undershoot their shot quality, but it was balanced with 2 very lucky shots that killed the Mavs.
Offense was a different story:
1. Celtics successfuly pressured Luka full court and attacked his dribble from behind, too many TO.
2. Attrocious shooting display be everyone not named Luka (and Exum I guess).
3. Kyrie played really subpar game.

Maintaining same defensive effort and riding the home crowd for few shots and Mavs got this

Go Mavs!!
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Mavs need to score 110+ to have a chance to win. Hopefully home court can help there.

Kyrie's last 12 games versus the Celtics: 0-12

NO NEED TO WATCH THIS GAME REALLY. 0-3 Easily. They are as good as the 1996 Bulls.

Btw, I think it is time to play Timmy, he sucks but he can help on the 3s.

Let's see if KP is playing. If he is not able to play Mavs have a real chance to come back. Not only because he missing on the court but this is a chance to get the Celtics mentally.

If KP dares play, this is easy for us, keep attacking KP ultra hard and make him pay.

With this injury, I don't see KP being a factor anymore in the rest of the series. However we must win 1 game first.

Lively sounds more physically and mentally prepared than first 2 games. Let's see if Kyrie can get out from the past as well. But after all, the Mavs have to make the opened 3s at good rate and move to the right spot to help each other out. Boston has been doing great in this regard. So is the fundamentals. The Mavs could learn a lot from this series.

On court production aside, I think Kyrie can develop more playmakers within the team. If it is only Luka and Kyrie, Boston can handle it. But if there're 5-6 playmakers on the team, the situation could be way different. I think Hardy, Green, PJ and Lively have potential to develop this kind of skillset. Boston players have got through a lot. They make better decisions. Go learn from them and bridge the gap.

If KP is not playing, I can see a change in floor game.

Study the Boston scheme and figure out how the teammates without the ball move could turn the trap into opportunities. If there is 2-4 players on you, someone must be unattended.

I always look for adjustments when I watch the 1st quarter....

What adjustments have the Mavs made on offense and defense?

-Is Kyrie moving without the ball?
-Will Kyrie take on more PG duties and be allowed to push pace a little?
-Is Luka in the post more oppose to at the top of the key where Bos defense can hone in on him?
-Will we get a THJ sighting to help knock down some shots / maybe give up a lift?
-Will we look more energized as a group?
-Did Jason Kidd see Draymon Green's advice abt how the Warriors guarded the Celtics years ago? Shading them heavily to their left? Will we see a noticeable defensive adjustment to stop penetration?

Those are some of the things I'm looking forward to seeing. Enjoy the game people! A Must win forsure!

Believe in some Kidd adjustments is pure madness... I just hope that he will not play his lovely scrubs too much. It's the maximum that we can expect from him.

The offensive game plan is on Luka&Kyrie hands and the defensive one on God's.

Tonight will be some scoring without a fully healthy KP stopping Gaff and DLive at the rim ,They will be seen and heard. Without the lob game Mavs grinded slowly on offense .
Kidd has got to know by now that walking the ball upcourt was to Boston's defense advantage .
Trying to out defense Boston isnt working just like out small balling GS hasnt worked . Kidd always trys to beat the other teams strength instead of playing to his own teams strength.
Mavs CAN RUN and still play physical .Tonight thats what I think we'll see .

Dallas 115 / Boston 107

Horford is the guy you have to worry about.Without KP his job is to shoot just 3's ......Luka and PJ have to rotate on the baseline and closeout his corner 3's so Gaff and DLive can have a block party in the paint.

There will be less swagger and confidence without KP defending the basket . Mavs need to attack the baqsket and own the paint.

Mavs treating Horford like Boston would treat Maxi in the paint
