Great move for us. We needed a player like him. Hes a perimeter player that:

1) doesn’t need many dribbles to get off a threatening shot.

2) will feed being on the team that creates the most open looks in the nba

3) will pressure defensive rotations off-ball and create more room for lukai and the paint

Nico doin' work!

We needed another pure shooter on this team (besides Kyrie).

Sorry to see DJJ (and Green) go, but I'm excited to see how it works out with the sum total of our new additions.

Other top teams are going to improve. I don't know if bringing back the exact same roster would have been enough. Hopefully these pieces all fit well and along with continued player development put us over the Finals hump.

Grant Afseth: Klay Thompson on Kyrie Irving’s recruiting impact: “He actually was one of the first people to text me just how grateful he is to be here—how the city has embraced him, how the organization has embraced him…”

Grant Afseth: Klay Thompson on Luka Dončić reaching out to him: “He texted me saying how excited he is. I relayed the same message back. There’s definitely a mutual respect there.” Klay mentioned gaining respect for Luka after the Mavs-Warriors WCF when speaking to him after the series ended.

We are going to destroy some teams during the regular season with our offense. It will be fun to watch when it's rolling.

I'm very concerned about a step back defensively.

This team would not have sniffed the finals if Kidd hadn't inserted Jones into the starting lineup late in the season. That is when the defense became formidable, looked like a defense capable of holding up in a championship run. That is when I thought this team had a chance to do something big last season.

No championship level defense, no finals appearance.

I can imagine a scenario where the team is better with one of our new perimeter defenders starting/finishing games with Clay as the 6th man. Or mix and match vs different teams to finish games.

A lot of people don't see Luka, Kyrie, and the current version of Klay being part of a lineup that finishes games on the defensive end at a championship level. I'm seeing reports that, if Klay was still that kind of player, what went down in Golden State wouldn't have happened.

And Kidd saying Klay is still a superstar might not help matters. I never viewed Klay as a superstar even in his prime.

Having said that, I'm excited for the season to start. It should be a fun ride. I do think the Mavs will have one of the better records in the west. I'm looking for Luka to get MVP this season!!! Go Mavs!!!!!!!

Kidd is using Klay perfectly. 11 three point attempts per game and he's averaging 5.5 makes per game at 50%.
