RS 24/25 - Mavs vs Rockets (Sat 3PM EST)

Early game. Entire world will be watching.
Rationally... completely a waste to dwell on the past and cry about things that cannot be changed*.
Let's hope Davis suits up and the Mavs destroy the Rockets.
*Nico is still a clown for not extracting max value out of an unexplainable trade

This trade was so nuts it turned mod Dirk into the Buddha.

It's better for Nico to not go to the AAC tonight... Stay at home, close the doors, sorround the home with bodyguards and pray for your life. Trust me.

More like Nico will join Pelinka and laugh together and celebrate another Mavs' loss meaning one step closer to move to Vegas. After the game, they also get busy.

Considering the fact that last year the team got to the finals , and that the Mavs staff(FO/GM,coach) were clear that they believe that was the maximum they could achieve with Luka ,and that AD is an upgrade over Luka, I think we can safely assume that anything but the title this year/and,or next year should be considered a faillure
I'm not a fan of the trade but I'll still keep my eye on them(Just wont be watching as many games as I used to) cause Dirk was my favorite player and still like the Mavs...the Players aren't at fault for this situation and should't be blamed, but I cant stand the GM, owners or the coach...luckily they didn't trade for Durant ,cause then I wouldn't be able to bring myself to watch the games....It would Just feel like a team od mercenaries, kind of like the Nets or Suns, two teams we all despised

The thing is (and you can save somewhere what i'm about to say). I do believe Mavs will win the title this year OR at least they'll come close. No one is getting past Lively, Gaff, AD and PJ. That's too much defense. Perimeter defense suffered with the loss of Grimes but they added Christie who was incredible in just 2 games.
BUT for that to happen, Klay has to continue playing like he did vs BOS. Mavs offense with that type of Klay, Kyrie and AD will be enough to win + defense obviously.
Worst part for Luka is, people will turn on him in a way like "AD could win and you couldn't". But it will be also easy to forget that this year's team is much better, more experienced and stronger than last year.

This game will have all eyes on it. I know we're all still pissed or grieving about the trade (I'm still wildly pissed too) but after all the protests and boos are done, I do hope the players put in maximum effort to get a win and that we cheer for THEM if so. So far the players have said all the right things and should be commended for their professionalism. Let's hope the effort they put in BOS can carry over to this game and that AD can bring the same or even more intensity.

That's a lot of IF's...Yeah, the D should be good,at least under the basket...but lets not forget that the perimeter D on this team has been awfull...and that the Players are widely incosistent on O...Kyrie said that the series against OKC was really hard on him, that he was tired because he had to spend soo much energy...and that was with Luka getting doubled, now the double team is gonna be on him...and he really strugled against BOS...come playoffs a different brand of basketball will be played and Mavs have strugled against physical D...I would favor them against Rockets, MIN, MEM, but I think OKC and DEN(perhaps even the LAL because LeBron and Luka elevate their Play in playoffs...+ Luka will be super motivated, kind of like gainst he Clippers,Suns)...and despite beating Boston yesterday I believe that if they meet in finals, BOS should win(they Just have too much talent...same gora probably for CLE... and because of their standing right now every game is important, they could end up losing a lot of energy just to make sure they get to the playoffs and maybe have homecourt advantage at least in the first round

This game going forward should be about getting AD and Klay going. They open it up for everyone else. And Kyrie can pick his spots because they will open up the floor more for his isolation and penetration. I think that Boston game was a blueprint we should stick to...just add AD to the mix.

Positivity, I like it.
I'll just add one thing. I do not think this year team was better when Luka was on the team. It's not about Luka - its more about what these others guy bring to the team and what him not being here potentially does for Klay. t's because having Luka and Kyrie
(btw, Kyrie is a good defender when he's focus..did a really good job on Tatum & Brown despite giving up 6 inches... for those who think he can't play defense) in the backcourt is just too much isolation and we have a lot more man movement and player movement (by necessity) without Luka. Additionally, with AD our front court defense / perimeter defense just gets so much better. Then we also got Max Christie in the deal. We also got a guy who has proven he can be one of the best scorers on the court in a big playoff series in Caleb Martin. All this doesnt happened if we don't make the trade.
With Luka we're still heavily dependent on Luka and Kyrie and our defense is like a C to C+ at best.
Without Luka (with the guys that came in):
Our perimeter defense and front court defense is a B to A on a given night.
Kidd is incentivized to get Klay more involved (this will create more man movement / open up the driving lanes for Kyrie and others)
A.Davis gives us an inside game we did not have before. If he's cooking, that will open it up for our shooters. (haven't seen the results of that yet)
We also got a little deeper because Maxi was useless and Morris wasn't playing. So, this opens up playing time for other guys who can help this team.
If we win without Luka, it's because we actually got better in this trade in areas that mattered and got rid of regressive areas that did not. The same thing could have been said if you traded Kyrie and got AD and Max Christie. Unfortunately, LA wouldn't have given you AD for Kyrie.

Best scenario of the season:
Mavs lose in play-in.
Then Nico and Kidd are both fired immediately.
I don't know how some of you would call this shatshow championship material. No one fears us anymore because we lost our alpha dog. We are first round exit at BEST.
P.S. Kyrie will leave in the summer too. Why would he stay? Especially he is wanted by other teams again.

Looks like a discussion by 14/15 yo basketball fans... PO basketball is another thing.
Half court offense & defense, you have to set plays... Execute... You need a floor general. Some who can control the tempo.
And about interior defense, yes we can be great at it... But this NBA era is heavy leaded by 3s, Boston shots 50 triple per game. Other teams the same.
I would like to stay positive but Irving, Dinwiddie and Exum backcourt can't be good in PO.
Simple as that.

I'm not so sure moving the Mavs to Vegas would be a bad idea.
Then we could get an expansion team in Dallas and at least have the draft to look forward to.
Right now we have nothing to look forward to but a few broken down washed up tier two players trying to lead us to a championship in a realistic two year window.
Damn I am still fuming and everyday is getting worse.

Best scenario:
Mavericks play good basketball. Stay healthy and enjoy some playoff success.
Whether that will make the GM look better or worse... isn't really relevant. Not like much would change if a new GM was hired. You can't undo trades and you won't magically get new assets by changing names.
No point in trying to be miserable or hoping that the team sucks. But each person is unique... and at this stage... it seems many fans are still electing to feel miserable.
For now, it'd be a good start if they played this game with extra emotion and defeated the Houston Rockets.

I hope Dallas will never draft another generation talent, i don't want to see someone be collusion again and steal him from us for pennies.

Problem is, you have to win now, there is no other way. Literally finals or even a championship or Nico better relocate to North Pole. Losing in 1st or 2nd round will be a total and complete disaster, specially the way this went down and what was said in that press conference when Nico was literally mocking the trade.

I want Nico's head. No matter how. I want his head now.
I know that Luka is gone but i'm very scared of what that man can do next summer... He has to make moves and all our assets+ picks for KD is a real option. No way. No **** way.
Go out of Texas stupid moron.

We was a contender, we played the Finals 7 months ago.
We just needed a couple of bench players and improve again the roster.
This roster is a lot more dysfunctional then ever, no PG. 5 centers. FIVE CENTERS.
And that moron went to the press conference to say those bullshits???? No way. He needs to go.
