RS 24/25 - Mavs @ Lakers (Tuesd 10PM EST)

Long awaited game.

Max Christie gets to face his former team that inexplicably traded him away having only spoked with one team and one Gm who happened to be a "close friend".

I hear many Lakers fans will not be upset if Christie drops 50 on them.

This is probably the only Lakers I'll be watching.

Also, **** the Lakers. Just a joke, fake franchise and nothing and I mean nothing... that they do has true value because it's all bought off and provided for by the league 'dynamics'.

Luka and DFS combined 89 points in this upcoming revenge game.

Mavs got destroyed as usual.

After the game, Nico resigns and then joins the Lakers FO.

Kidd fired and then joins the Lakers coaching staff.

Mavs owners make announcement that the team will move to Vegas in the summer.

Kyrie leaves the team in the summer and then joins the Lakers.

Lebron wins his 5th ring, and claims he has officially surpassed MJ as the undisputed goat.

"But hey at least nobody died in this." - Jason Kidd

So you want Luka to have a monster game and Mavs still win the game? :-?

Weird that I'm rooting for the Lakers to crush the Mavs. I guess this is the new norm for a while.

Doesn't matter so much if Luka scores this much or throws this much lobs. We all know he's capable of scoring 50, 70, 100 per game. Nico said it himself that he traded Luka for his defense. That came from the horse's mouth. What Luka needs to do to rub it in Nico's face is to win All NBA Defense awards. Not score 50. Everyone knows he can do that. But play All NBA defense, that would put the ball back in Nico's court.

If Luka is capable of being first team NBA All Defense then he ends the conversation there. But if keeps getting hunted on defense then it just goes on and on. Even if he scores a lot of points on offense.

You're saying that combination of Magic, Jordan and Pippen in one person, with Kobe's work ethic should have satisfied Nico and let Luka stay in Dallas? He would still have problems with culture part.

If Luka gets to win one of those awards, Nico will get run out of town for sure.

IMO that's the best comeback because that's what he was traded away for. He wasn't traded away because he had difficulty getting triple doubles or shooting a stepback 3.

Steve Nash was sent packing because Cuban thought his back wouldn't hold up. He responded by winning the MVP award. That's how you do a comeback. Tell the guy that sent you packing that you could do the thing they said you wont be able to.

Are you aware Mavs had better defensive rating when Luka was on the floor? Doesn't matter how hard he gets hunted if he's still capable of playing good D.

He'll never be 1st all nba defensive team but neither will Jokic. So i don't understand your logic here.

That's good. I highly encourage it. Look, it's not a knock on Luka. Barkley got traded, he responded by being in the best shape of his career. Nash was not re-signed, he responded by winning MVP when Cuban thought he was done. My point is you respond to what you were sent out for. The best response is to do what Nico said you couldn't and that is to play defense. Show him you can. Simple. Luka got sent out because "defense wins championships" according to Nico. He said that word for word. This is documented. So best way is answer back and show him. Doing the same thing that you were doing back when Luka was here does not move the needle. As much as I dont like the Mavs management on how they handled all this, they never said Luka was not a good player, nor that he was not good offensively. We all know he's good in that department. So praying he drops 40 or he drops 50, isn't gonna prove Nico wrong. And I actually want him to be proven wrong. Hence the reply I posted. Don't you want to prove Nico wrong? I thought you guys wanted the same thing?

No. Winning a championship is what does it, not all defense. Its not like luka can even get that because he missed too many games.

We will see. Nicos dream might come true this summer if kyrie opts out. Then he can sign Dunn to be his starting pg, and we will see if defense wins a championship for him

I understand what you mean and yeah i do agree. But i still feel like you're mixing apples and oranges here. The notion of defense was thrown in because Nico needed as many excuses as possible to justify the trade with the fans. His biggest complain (and even later in interviews) was/is his weight and not having muscles or whatever. That's where their entire "culture" argument is coming from and why fans are so upset and make fun off as well.

Jokic is fat and parties a lot he also drinks a lot during the summer but no one dares to say anything to him because he won a ring. If Luka can win a ring no one will say a word. I mean how do you expect a guy to get healthy and get in shape when you fire his entire team who helped him out in the past to get there?

If Luka wins DPOY it won't matter... getting to the finals or winning a ring matters the most.

Agree.

Winning championships is the goal, not those fake awards. Nobody cares about all defensive team.
Gobert was a 3 time DPOY and he is overrated as hell.

And even if Luka will not win championships there (that it's impossible for me honestly...) Mavs have to win anyway to justify the trade because our future is screwed.
Don't forget Nico' words, we are in better position now and in the future to win.

Nico can't save his ass just by hoping Luka fails.
Too easy.

Next summer the pression on him will be insane and i'm expect another very dumb move.

Partly true, yes. Nico didn't want to reach the stage of offering Luka the supermax because he doesn't think he's worth the supermax by playing one side of the court. Which goes back to his thinking of "defense wins championships". So I agree. If Luka can win a championship by not playing defense or coming into the season with poor conditioning then that's the ultimate comeback.

But part of me wants Luka to improve so I will side with the thinking of "I hope he does better on other things" as it can only be good for him. Improve your game, big market, global superstar. Why stop just there. Sky's the limit for Luka in LA IMO. There is no downside in hoping he grows his game AND wins a championship. Both can be true.

Let's set the record straight. I would like to see Luka win a championship AND improve his game and conditioning. Both can be done. It's not either or. I don't want him to just win one just for the sake of. Look, it can be done. He's shown he can play defense when he's inspired to. Don't you like him to improve parts of his game? You like him to remain the same? I like him shooting better free throws. I like him getting less technical fouls every year. You don't like that too? I'm confused.

A fan hoping the player does well is a good thing. Why is it a bad thing? The whole "if you don't agree with us, you're against us" mindset doesn't work every time. That's what message boards are for.

Luka was traded away not because he doesn't play defense or he is fat.

It was because Nico had hidden agenda or he likes sucking Pelinka's dick or simply both.

Be that it may, the hope is to motivate him to do better. LA media is reporting "it has woken up a beast inside Luka". So again if there is no beast to be waken up, that is fine and all. I prefer him to do better so I'm on the side that I hope it does.
