New team, new season, same old opponent to open the season, Wemby looks great, unclear if Harper is playing, but Flagg isn't too shabby, and Mavs have the Wemby kryptonite 7'3" Derek Lively the second.
No funny images, I'm not as talented as Dirk

Kidd is not the smarter coach in the world but no way he will start that absurd lineup again in a RS game...

Probably his 2nd toughest assignment after Joker. AD gets a night off guarding Barnes lol

Moussa is a Maverick now, so 5 C lineup is possible. Let's go big Kidd!

It'll be interesting to see what Coop can do against Champagnie. Dude is a beast on defense.

If Lively's not able to contain Wemby within X amount of years we must improve at the center (5) position. Otherwise, winning will continue to be difficult. We already know AD is no match for Jokic and Wemby. If Lively doesn't show us anything this season I hope our search for a starting 5 continues. I don't believe is the answer at center long-term but I hope he proves me wrong.

For your information, Mavs have bigs good enough to be champions, unfortunately they have near 0 on 1 and 2. And not enough on wings. And even when Kyrie comes back, it will still not be good enough. So yes C position is the least to be worried about.
Btw. There is nobody, who can adequately defend Wemby in his prime. He's not there yet. But Wemby alone is not enough for winning either, especially knowing that he will very difficulty stay healthy.

Mavs are a 2.5 point favorite.
Victor Wembanyama has averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 4 games versus the Mavericks in his career.

We will just disagree.
The center position is our biggest concern until we know we have a talent that can to some degree contain Wemby or Jokic. Wings will come and go, but not being able to semi contain Wemby/Jokic...well...that will cripple us.
Do you think Lively is a future all-star? First team defensive player?

What do you mean with "contain"? Wemba probably will be a top5 at the of the season. He is a no match for everybody.
25+10+5+5blocks?
But like Bob said, he is very injury prone and I would be very concerned in the long term.
Lively too unfortunately for us, if he will not play at least 60 games this season we have to trade him.
