Dampier no longer forgotten in middle

"Part of it is, 'Hey, you need to stay out there, we need to play with a center,'" Johnson said. "That was our whole M.O. when we first started. We can't play without a center, OK?
"So, rather than us trying to overthink the whole thing, [Dampier was told], 'You just find a way to be competitive out there on the floor because I'm not taking you out. You've got to play 26 or 30 minutes against this team because we need your blocks, we need your rebounds, and when you're not in there, [Brandon] Bass or [DeSagana] Diop will be in there.'"
Perhaps the days of the Mavericks trying to match up rather than making their opponents match up are over.

That is my thought when I saw the headline. Mavs adjusted to every team last year. The better course is to make that team match up to them

Mavs are 10-0 when Damp plays at least 24 minutes

If Dampier needs to get 26-30 min, that means Diop needs to get 18-22 minutes.
Bass needs to stay at PF as Dirk's backup and he has played quite well at the 3 also.

I really like the minute distruibution in the front court in that situation. If Damp can just stay out of early foul trouble, he is for sure the 3rd best center in the Western Conference.
