Warriors Waive DJ Mbenga

The Golden State Warriors have waived center DJ Mbenga, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today.

Mbenga, who originally signed with Golden State as a free agent on November 17, 2007, appeared in 16 games for the Warriors, averaging 1.2 points and 1.9 rebounds in 8.9 minutes per contest [READ]

There were lots of Mavs fans saying that we should have kept Mbenga but if he can not make it on a team devoid of any Centers like G.S. then I think his NBA experience may be coming to an end.

If mavs trade one of the centers, especially Damp, then they could go re-sign

Warriors say it was due to nothing Mbenga did or didn't do... although his (small) contract was about to become guaranteed, the larger issue may have been Troy Hudson going down, Baron playing too much.

They picked up a D-League PG, on a 10-day, for the roster spot.

DJ's fine as an insurance but nothing else.
If Gana doesn't get minutes, I doubt DJ would ever enter the court.
