The rest of January looks good

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Thu Jan 10, 2008 7:03 pm

11th @ Seattle
12th @ LA Clippers

14th @ Sacramento

19th Seattle

21st @ Washington
23rd @ Charlotte

25th LA Lakers

27th Denver

28th @ Memphis
31st @ Boston

Our current win streak should keep going and only start get tested against Denver on the 27th. Hopefully by the end of the month will be on top of the Southwest and not tied with the Spurs.

They aren't all gimmes.

The Clippers play us tough.
The Lakers are playing really well.
Denver is good.
Garnett and PP always get geared up for the Mavs.

We could go 5-4 if we aren't paying attention.

I don't think we will, but ...

Road game or not the Lakers don't bother me much. We have a day off between them and Charlotte so that's another reason why I feel very confident that we will win on the road. Another reason is unlike this time last year, I'm not at the Staples Center, so it's a big win on the road.

Apparently it is bad that Bynum is money motivated

Phil: Bynum's Improvement Motivated By Money
January 10, 2008 - 11:46 am
Press Enterprise -
To Phil Jackson, it really is pretty simple why Andrew Bynum has been driven to succeed this season.

"My guess is contract," Jackson deadpanned. "Dollars are green. The idea is that, 'Hey, it's coming up. I've got to get something that's contractual here. This process is real short.' "

Bynum is making $2.1 million this season, and the Lakers picked up his option for $2.7 million next season.

But the big money could come this summer, when Bynum can sign a maximum contract for up to $75 million. That would keep Bynum in the fold for five more seasons.

Jackson talked about a promise Bynum made to the Lakers when he was drafted during the summer of 2005.

"Even though he was 17 years old and inexperienced, he was going to work as hard as he could with this process and he was going to commit himself to it," Jackson said. [READ]

As evidenced by Miami and det over the past week. Miami was a win, but a tough one with no shaq or wade

Not at all. I just feel really good about this team right now and feel we are going to continue our win streak for most of the month. I didn't like the Miami game, but they played well, and we managed to pull away with the win.

I would like to see us going into Boston with this streak still going, because we will definately have our hands full, barring some injury to one of Boston's Big 3.. I think the Lakers will be a solid game, and you cant overlook the Nuggets either.

I may not watch until the Boston game. That game right there will tell us how ready we are for the playoffs. Because if we go 5-3 before that game, which is possible, or 6-2 but struggle to beat Memphis, Washington, etc, and go balls to the wall against Boston, that would be sweet. I want to see us go toe to toe with them because they're obviously the class of the league

I'm actually looking forward to 5 of the 6 game stretch...

Jan 25...Lakers (I still don't think they can maintain, but they have surprised me thus far)
Jan 27...Denver (can we show they they are not a matchup problem? The destroyed us before)
Jan 28...Grizzlies (meh)
Jan 31...Celtics (Number 1 overall record)
Feb 3.....Pistons (can we sweep them in the reg season?)
Feb 4.....Magic (can we sweep them in the reg season?)

The last 3 are the three best teams in the East.

Leading the Southwest Division

And if The Jazz (w/o AK47 & Harpring) can beat the Suns (w/o Nash, Marion & Hill), we would be within 1/2 game of leading the West.

The schedule is a bit favorable for a stretch as to quality of opponent, but ...

4 of our 5 wins in the current streak were at home.

We're 7-8 on the road this season.

7 of the next 10 are on the road.

I think 7-3 over the next 10 would be a success but 6-4 wouldn't surprise me.

I know you are just looking at the rest of January, but 9 of our next 11 are on the road. Games 8-11 are at Memphis, at Boston, at Detroit and at Orlando.

Surprised ? Don't make me laugh ! This season is another story...the team has great chemistry, almost everyone stepped up, the defensive game looks fine, a bunch of athletic guys, there is a very smart coach, eventually a very smart/patient GM ( Bynum case ). This team doesn't need Kobe to score 30, 40 pts. in every game anymore. The future doesn't look as dark as it did in the summer...do not be surprised to see us next year in front of you. You depend too much on Dirk 'cause he's a great player, better than KG ! You don't need him to get injured or rapidly aging.
Looking forward to play you ! Good luck !
We smoked Denver twice, just in case !

That's dumb! You depend on Kobe more than we depend on Dirk. If you did not notice, Dirk just barley became our leading scorer about 2 weeks ago. And we are in front of you right now (as if the reg season matters anyways).
