I would do that deal, but I would draw the line if they insist on Harris.

Kidd can mentor Harris better than Terry and many on this board (like DDan) believes he is closer to a SG than a PG anyways.

I personally think Kidd will soon start to decline and Harris still has not reached his prime, though he is doing pretty welll now.

Also a 2 PG backcourt with one big and one fast like Kidd/Harris can defend Billups/Hamilton, Davis/Ellis, Ginobli/Parker, Nash/Barbosa and Williams/Brewer backcourts pretty well.

Another interesting idea is leaving Stack out and doing a Damp/Magloire swap.

I wouldn't trade Harris for Kidd. Value-wise it would seem like we should do a Terry for Kidd trade, but I don't think that fits the team very well. It would put Harris either on the bench or at the 2, and we would have a very poor shooting team.

We're already halfway through with the season. If we were going to make a big shakeup I think it would have come earlier in the year.

I don't think they said Mavs are interested in Kidd so much as Barkley went on again about how the Mavs should do anything (besides Dirk) to get Kidd. With Harris' recent play, I don't think Mavs are willing to trade him for Kidd. They would be willing to give up Terry since they obviously wanted Terry for Maggette, but we'll see. I don't see the NETs wanting Terry, they don't really have a need. And value qise, they could do better for Kidd so I don't see anything happening.

Id trade Terry OR Stack... Not both. Maybe a Stack, Diop, or a 1st for Kidd. JKidd is too old to cut up your roster for. Its good to know that the Mavs are at least looking into it though, even though I think we all knew that Dallas wants Kidd

Where are you getting Mavs wants Kidd?

Everytime that has been brought up, it has been by Barkley.

Mavs did not want him when Nash left and they have showed no interest in him now.

None.

In fact, everything they have done has been geared to Harris being our PG for many years to come.

Are you kidding me? Every other week another article gets put up about the Mavs going after Kidd.. GMs from around the league, NBA insiders, etc. Its been around since the summer, the whole "interest in Kidd" that Cuban and the Mavs show at some point according to those people

if the Nets were going to move Kidd I am sure they would want KVH's 1 year "potential" deal in the mix. Considering they would want to get under the cap if they were going to tear down their down team. Kidd next season will make over $21 million dollars at the age of 35 I just can't see the Mavs wanting in on that, also I would think Carter would be on his way out too considering his age and contract status. To me it would make more sense for Jersey to ride out Kidd for one more season and see what his expiring could bring them?

Give me a link. All I have seen are posters here on realgm and Barkely.

I have yet to see one single hint from the Mavs organization that they are interested in Kidd.

In fact...

^ Aside from the above post, good job with the article, Dallas and NJ are not good trading partners.
I would like a deal that shipped out Howard; I'm sick of seeing his jump shots clank off the rim time and time again. He drove to the basket much more when he was a sophomore/rookie.

I think mavs need to go get all aged former PGs Kidd and Cassell.

There is no reason now that I think Harris has emerged after a long period of waiting.

J-Ho has a respectable 46% eFG from his jumper. Every time I watch you guys play he seems like absolute money from outside..maybe I'm wrong?

I gree with Black Jesus 1

Howard is not on the go unless we get someone under 30 and better (like Caron Bultler, Kobe Bryant, or some other all-star caliber, under 30 player).

Harris, Howard and Dirk are fixed.

The 2 and 5 spots are fluid.

This wouldnt solve a thing for either team...

NJ gets back a 28 year old SF who'll give you 21 pts 7 rebs while already having a SF who's 28 and already gives them 23 pts 5 rebs...

I don't see a deal without Harris. I'm not keen to give him up, just like you guys, but without him, there's nothing happening.

Kidd Trade Could "Gut The Franchise"
Posted: 1/28/2008 3:04:00 AM
Source: Bergen Record

Jason Kidd is unhappy and wants to be traded to a contender. The Nets may grant him his wish.

A league source with knowledge of the situation said the Nets are exploring all options to move the point guard and have been granted permission by ownership to trade him.

Finding the right deal is the hard part, but the Nets are exploring numerous scenarios. Some include more than two teams that would "gut the franchise," one source said. The Nets are expected to be one of the most active teams leading up to the Feb. 21 trade deadline.

One scenario would have Kidd returning to Dallas, where he started his career, and probably would include another team. The Nets, the source said, would get Devean George, DeSagana Diop and draft picks. Jerry Stackhouse may have to be added to make it work financially, but there likely is more involved.

Nets president Rod Thorn said nothing is close to happening, but he and special assistant Kiki Vandeweghe have been working the phones. The Mavericks, Lakers, Nuggets and Cavaliers have the most interest in Kidd, who wouldn't mind returning to the Western Conference.

So the Mavs are trying to trade DG, Diop, picks, Stack, and KVH to enable a chance to the nearly closed window?

KVH ---> Shaq
DG, Diop, Stack, picks ---> J Kidd

Shaq - Damp / Faz
Dirk - Bass / Juwan
JoHo - Trenton / RAT
Devin - EJ / Ager
J.Kidd - JET / JJB

Talent-wise, it's a better team for 2 years. This gives us a 10 depth rotation. And it allows us to sign Rayshawn Terry for the final spot to practice with the team. It sounds very "Cuban" scenerio to me.

As I dislike Stack shot selection, I have no problem in Kidd trade. Gana is to be missed. But for a contender. We need somebody who's more mistake-free. Not to say the Mavs succeed mostly with Damp and Bass.
