I don't see where this makes us any bigger.

With Shaq and Amare together, we will need 2 big defensive centers. Diop will be a critical piece if we meet the Suns in the playoffs.

I don't really see where that makes us any better and there is no way that Memphis trades Miller for Terry straight up right now. I do like the idea of getting Miller but it would probably take some expirings to get it done.

Mavs should offer Hassell, George, Ager, and draft pick for Miller.

I would even consider trading Juwan Howard for Calvin Booth.
Booth did have some success with Amare when he was with Dallas and he can provide a little offense to be on the floor with Damp for short periods if needed. Mainly as insurance and extra fouls though.

I posted a responce to this on the trade forum where I said,

Dallas FO may value Bass more than Haslem, we wouldn't value Cook the way Miami does and don't go there with Diop/Stack for Blount.

Trade 2 Dallas easily accepts, but Memphisi wouldn't.

The best scenario with these 3 teams is a 3 way with Terry going to Miami, Miller coming to Dallas and Williams going to Memphis. We may have to absorb Smush or add a pick, but that's the best scenario with these 3 teams.

haslem would be a great pickup. I'd give Bass for him.

Miller is a dream.

^^^ Stack, Terry, and Bass would qualify in my opinion as part of the top players on the roster.

The following players in the trade I would not CURRENTLY consider top players of the roster:

1. Diop is currently 3rd string center (behind Damp and Bass) and is an expiring,
2. George is also 3rd string SF (behind Josh and Stack) and also is an expiring,
3. Hassell is 2nd string SG (behind Jones) and mainly plays defense. Hassell is NOT an expiring.

The only reason I was trading Bass was we were getting both Haslem and Blount in return. This upgrades our biggs from Diop/Bass to Blount/Haslem - I consider that an upgrade.

That would be awesome, but good luck getting Miami to accept that crap.

Diop is 3rd string against Goden State and Utah, but he is 2nd string (maybe 1st) against Phoenix, San Antonio and Lakers.

George is our depth at SG, SF, PF and C. He is NOT A FILLER in any trade.

Hassell SHOULD be in front of Jones and starting.



Oh, and I do not want to see Bount, Murphy, Okur type centers next to Dirk.

Here is a possible way to get Miller in a 4 team deal:

Dallas Trades:

Terry/Stack/Diop/Juwan Howard/KVH

Receives:
Miller/Ilkauskas/Magloire/Damon Jones

Cleveland trades:
Ilkauskas/Damon Jones/Gibson/Pavlovic/#1 pick

Receives:
Terry/Stack/Diop/Juwan Howard

Memphis trades:
Miller

Receives:
KVH/Gibson/Cleveland #1 pick

NJ Trades:
Magloire

Receives:
Pavlovic

Dallas gets big and finds a solid starting SG/SF and a poor man's Terry.

Cleveland gets a great veteran supporting cast for LJ.

Memphis gets salary relief, young player and a draft pick.

NJ gets a young talented player for virtually nothing.

Not sure mem needs yet another PG with potential. Mavs tie up lots o cash in Centers.

Is anyone else tired of seeing KVH in trade proposals?

1) That means we take a buttload more money in salary.
2) Doubled by tax that Cuban has been reluctant to pay quite as much for minimal gain.
3) If KVH signed right now, the other teams pays too much. I.E. Lets say we signed KVH to 80% of Mike Miller's contrat to make the salary macth for the trade, but that 80% would all have to be paid by Memphis and they only owe 40% to Miller at this time of the season.



As for the above trade:

1) Cleveland's FO likes Big Z too much on a personal level
2) Big Z >>> Diop
3) Cleveland fans like Gibson too much to cash him in for an older version of himself (Terry).
4) Pavlovic's age and produxction is debatably close to Stack.
5) 1st >>> Juwan Howard

Magloire is expiring and redundant to Dampier. Send him to Memphis in lieu of the biggest portion of KVH.

There is nothing wrong with KVH in trade proposals. I'm not saying that proposal was necessarily the best involving KVH but if there is an opportunity for the Mavs to get the right piece, it would be stupid for Cuban not to entertain that option.

While other teams are building for the POs, we are sitting here doing nothing as we have for the past few years. We have the unique opportunity to give up absolutely nothing, in terms of players, to add a decent player to our roster. I think Cuban has owned this team long enough without anything to show for it to get cheap now. I personally think that Avery is holding him back from spending by keeping the team together. He doesn't seem to have a problem being overly generous to existing players on the roster.

You are not getting it. Memphis would not pay 40% more this year to get rid of Miller. That's all there is to it.

Now "IF" Memphis is willing to give up Miller for an expiring, a 3 way with Terry to Miami, Williams to Memphis and Miller to Dallas is the way to go. Memphis would not be paying 40% more this year to dump salary.

Also, Miller is not Miller x 2 (Lux tax) better than what we have now. Some salary would have to go.

In additon to that, we don't need to make a trade when the rest of the conference is making trades to our advantage (Suns, Warriors) or doing nothing (Utah, SA). We don't neccesarily need to do anything and if we do, we still need to keep the salary in check. Lets not pay 18 mil + draft picks for a 9 mil player.

If Miller comes here, he will be taking Terry's minutes at the SG and Harris/Barea can take his minutes at the PG. So, trading Terry's 49.5 mil would be worth it if we are making a commitment to Harris and Miller.
